You and me could write a bad romance Who: Dominic and Keira Where: A shady bar of ill repute, of course. When: Evening
The full moon had gone better than Dominic had expected, all things considered. He'd never thought Keira would offer to watch over him for the night again, like she had back in New York before things between them got really bad. Dominic would never like waking up in the cage, knowing that he'd been out of control for the night. It wasn't even the fact that he turned into a monster, since one could argue he was a monster in his waking life as well, but the fact that he had no memory of it would always unsettle him. It was worth it though, to see Keira's face the next morning. It might not have been from the two of them curled up in bed together, and she might not have quite been smiling at him, but it was something. Those little things meant more to him now than he previously realized.
Maybe, just maybe, he was getting a second chance. Maybe things were getting better. Only time would tell.
Tonight though, tonight Dominic found himself with some free time on his hands, and where else would he go but out to the bar? It wasn't like he was trying to get drunk and cause trouble, though that would certainly happen at one point or another. His intentions were good, and that had to count for something. As it was, he'd managed to get himself into a little poker game in the back corner of the bar, and was on a decent winning streak. It was about time something good happened to him, and if that happened to be clearing out some drunk guy of all his money, then so be it. He could have played all night, but seeing as one guy was broke and the other one about to be, his opponents bowed out. Whatever worked for them, Dominic wasn't going anywhere.
Pocketing his winnings, he sauntered up to the bar and flagged down the bartender for another beer. Just then, he caught a familiar scent - Keira, just coming in the door. Whether or not she noticed him yet remained to be seen, but once he had his drink, he'd go over and say hi. At least he was fairly certain he wouldn't get punched in the face for his efforts, and that was saying something. Tonight, things were good. Better than they'd been, anyway. Dominic would take that.
He didn't even get a chance to get that far before the redhead off to his right laid a hand on his arm. "This one's on me," she said, batting her eyelashes at him.
Dominic merely turned his head, raised an eyebrow, and took his arm away. "Not necessary," he said. "Keep your money." It wasn't like he didn't know she was there, you could smell the alcohol on her a mile away, but it wasn't like Dominic actually cared. The object of his affections was still on the other side of the room, and although the redhead was cute and all, she wasn't his type. Keira was his type and that was the end of that.
