"I win." Jaladhi said as a smile curled the corners of her mouth upward. 'Congratulations, you won a staring contest, with a doll.' Peena snarked back at the vampire, causing her victorious expression to drop. Jaladhi said nothing as she reached out and swatted the porcelain doll off the table top. Her grin returned when she heard something crack when the doll hit the ground. Truth was, the elemental guardian was bored out of her mind and that never led to anything good. The thought had occurred to her to go torture Bea, but, when she contemplated actually going through the house to find the other vampire, her desire suddenly dissolved. That would just make it like any other day and Jaladhi was tired of doing the same thing day in and day out. Her element had promised that Scarlet Oak would be fruitful, full of problems only she could solve with her teeth and hands -- so far, it had given her nothing. She pushed herself back from the table and rose from her chair to walk over to her kitchen. Leaning down as she opened the refrigerator, Jaladhi made a grumbling sound as she looked over the contents. There were a few vials of psychic blood that she had kept around for the hell of it. The effects had never been her favorite to experience, but she had them at hand should she ever change her mind. Beside those were two vials of water elemental blood. In all her anger over Bea's disappearance, Jaladhi had completely forgotten about her emergency stash of blood. Little things were so easy to slip her mind when she was consumed by her feelings. It hadn't been much, but it had been enough to get the two of them by until now. "Looks like I'm going shopping." She reached in and grabbed one of the unlabeled vials of blood. The top spun off into the floor as she carelessly loosed it. Jaladhi turned her head back and let the cool blood slowly slide down her throat. Sure, it would have been better warm, but she enjoyed feeling it crawl throughout her limbs. Mmmm..., Jaladhi sighed with delight. Level 6, water elemental -- it was her favorite, just under master. She walked over to the sink to place the newly emptied vial with the others. As she put the plug in the bottom of the sink and turned the water on, Jaladhi reached over for the telephone. A bemused smile spread across her face as she punched in the numbers. She had a love/hate relationship with technology. On the one hand, it was still foreign and strange to her, even after all this time; on the other, it made everything so incredibly convenient. As the water began to fill the sink, Jaladhi began to play with it - creating small waves, letting drops fall from her fingers and freezing them before they reached the growing pool. The familiar Irish voice ended the ringing finally. They agreed to meet at the park. Jaladhi didn't mind the walk. Leaving the water in the sink, Jaladhi walked back over to where Peena lay prone on the ground. She picked up the doll by the foot, not slowing her pace as she made her way to the door. 'Don't you think you should take Bea? She needs to learn how to get the blood she needs.' Her eyes rolled at her familiar's statement. Bea could barely handle existence at this point; the last thing that Jaladhi thought she could handle was buying blood. It wasn't even something that she liked doing herself. She was a predator, a creature capable of procuring her own meals; more than that, there was nothing in the world quite as satisfying as draining an unworthy elemental. Buying her blood from a blood dealer felt like admitting weakness, something that Jaladhi did not believe she possessed; despite her dislike, the simple truth of the matter was that there was no way that she could kill enough elementals to keep herself and Bea in Water's good graces. Almost an hour passed before Jaladhi finally reached the park; already she was hungry again. “Sooongbird,” she called out in a singsong voice that had an edge of a taunt in it. The sleeves of her shirt caught the air as she grabbed a nearby pole and began to swing around it. “Did you bring me what I need?” |
