In the heat of summer sunshine
Who: Eva and Oz
Where: The park
When: Afternoon
There was only one good thing about usually taking the morning shift and that was that Oz got the rest of the day to do whatever he wanted. The past few weeks that had meant going to class or attempting to study - like that really ever happened - or grabbing a quick nap, but today it meant something completely different. Today it meant taking the cake that he had decided to bake specially for Eva to the park for their picnic date. It was a little vanilla cake frosted with cream cheese and topped with a bunch of little raspberries. Eva liked raspberries right? This would, naturally, be the day when he found out that she was terribly allergic and bringing her this cake was like trying to kill her... nah, she would not be allergic. Raspberries were too cool to be allergic too. And besides! It was from him! That meant that she was not allowed to be allergic on principles of he was being thoughtful, damnit.
He had gotten to the park a little before the planned time so that he could roll out the blanket that he kept underneath the seat in his truck. He was sure that Eva would not have minded sitting on the ground since she was an earth elemental and Otter was always about touching the grass or dirt, but he was still going for the blanket. It meant that the ants would be a little easier to spot before they reached and ruined the cake. The cake that he had made instead of working on cupcakes or cookies like his sister had wanted because really? Making something special for Eva topped out over some lame cupcakes or cookies that any of his siblings could make with a blindfold on. Raven was just as capable of making them as he was. Maybe even better.
While he was waiting for Eva to get there, Oz stretched out on his back and closed his eyes, loving the way that the sun felt. Hot days were usually his favorite and he intended on soaking up every last ray of sun that he could before winter came. Sure, sliding around on the snow and making little forts was awesome and all, but he could not lay out like this without layering up unless he wanted to get frostbite. He was right on the verge of dropping off to sleep when he heard steps. A deep breath and he caught the scent of Eva. Unlike a lot of the girls he knew, Eva was not always covered with this or that perfume and he liked that. A lot of perfume made him sneeze, enhanced senses and all that. "Look who it is," he declared with a grin, propping himself up on his elbows as he glanced over Eva's outfit for the day. "Love that top on you. And hey; guess what I brought for dessert?" He nodded towards the clear container holding the cake. "You're not allergic to raspberries or anything are you?"
