Aren't we a cheerful one?
Who: Derrick and Domina
When: Late afternoon
Where: Ad Gustum
A flick of his thumb and the gold flashed in the air, swirling over at least five times before Derrick reached up to snatch the little circle out of the air, not minding when the diamond cut into his skin. He'd taken to carrying it around in his pocket on days when he knew he probably wasn't going to see Elaine. Like keeping it there was reminding him that he'd be asking soon and she'd be saying yes. 'No' wasn't an option. No was what Sophia had said and look what had happened with that. It was sad, really, if you asked him. Sad and completely avoidable. But Elaine wasn't that stupid and she'd say yes just like her mother had said she would. So Derrick flipped the engagement ring again, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth when he caught it and leaned back in the chair. The kitchen at Ad Gustum wasn't such a bad place when you needed somewhere to relax that didn't smell like certain activities -- though he'd always been a fan of the scent of blood -- or when you needed something to eat so that you didn't pass out on your way to your car. He might be one of the only non-clients who didn't live there though. Which he didn't get. Why live where you worked? They made enough money to at least get an apartment. Which was where he had to stop and remind himself that the people here weren't all like him. Some of them probably didn't have a single bit of self-respect and they were nothing but whores. Least he had himself another job in the works if he ever got it together.
Derrick laughed and grabbed the salt to add to his eggs. He'd been craving eggs lately, but it could be a sensitive thing around Elaine when it was time for the full moon. Like she had some sort of connection to unborn baby birds. Weres could be so weird and Derrick would know. Not only was he dating one, but not that long after he'd hooked up with Elaine he'd been introduced to his cousins, who were both were birds too. It was like they were everywhere.
"Hey." Derrick's laugh vanished and his eyebrows drew together in a frown after he took his first bite. Hefting the plate in his hand he debated for all of a second before he threw it at the wall in the direction of the cooking part of the kitchen. "Yeah those? Are fucking disgusting so why don't you give it another go, huh? Much as you get paid you should at least know how to make some eggs that are edible. Add a few strips of bacon and some shredded cheese this time." Completely unworried, even though there was probably a rule about nearly assualting the house staff in addition to breaking things, Derrick leaned back in the chair and waited for the meal he actually wanted to be ready. Wasn't like he didn't have the time since Elaine always needed to sleep the day away after the full moon. She's just lazy. Reaching into his pocket he pulled the ring back out and flipped it up into the air.
