Nicci got the feeling he was being very careful here, and she couldn't blame him for that. Anything but would have simply been an insult. "What's brought you to our little corner of the world, then?" she asked easily. "If you're looking for territory, I could introduce you to the right people. My brother's alpha of the largest pack in the area, and it was my father before him." And his father before, and so on and so on. "We're born only, but if that's a problem I know which way to point you." Because yes, Nicci did make it her business to know every pack within a day's running distance - and a few within driving. There were multiple reasons for this. The first was just common sense - someone high up in the pack hierarchy should know this information like the back of their hand, and it was something Nicci had always been good at. It made her feel her position was secured, even though as the alpha's daughter she had never felt she needed security. Another reason was it was just good to keep her options open.
Minibar was so used to wolves in her life that Nicci had always compared the situation to a small child always being surrounded by adults. She seemed to just assume she was one of them, and in most matters wait for Nicci to make up their minds. If Nicci was on edge, Mini would be on edge. If Nicci was relaxed, Mini was relaxed. Nicci was Mini's alpha and omega, and Nicci loved her as dearly as she would have loved her own child for it. "She doesn't, does she?" she replied with a grin. "Well, I've got plenty of time to work on that before sundown. I just like to make sure my roomie isn't hassled all night."
