Describe all the things that you cannot see Who: Elaine and Isaiah Where: The Owl's Nest When: Around noon
Rainy days meant a few different things and some of the worse ones included that if Elaine got upset about something she could not take to the skies to stretch her muscles and just get it out that way - the undeniably healthier way. Whatever, it needed to clear up before the full moon rose because the last thing that she needed to do was bang her way around the trailer in her merlin form. Or worse, her hybrid one. No, the full moon needed to have completely clear skies if it was going to be worth it. And it needed to be worth it. Elaine could go flying any night, but it always felt a little more special when the moon was full. Probably because somewhere in the back of her head she had the niggling hope that Tanner would show up in her driveway with a grin on his face and the declaration that they would spend this one together. How many times had that actually happened? A dozen if she was lucky. Most of her full moons meant being alone and she hardly minded, but she could remember times when it had not needed to be that way. There were vague memories in her mind of a time when she was much smaller, when there had been the same woman there for every full moon even before she could fly. I've been thinking about her a lot lately. Ever since the news had started talking about angels and then when that thing had happened at the bridge... there was a nagging thought in the back of her head connecting to the blonde woman she had known over a decade ago, but Elaine shrugged it off. She had a limited space of time in which to go and get herself lunch before she was due at L'Attique for her shift and even if her boss was awesome she did not want to be late.
Really, was it not terribly obvious that she was going to work? Elaine thought that it had to be with what she was wearing. The only time that she went around without jeans or shorts on was when she had to go to an interview, give a presentation or work at the nicer of her two jobs. She snorted to herself at the idea of what would happen to these nice clothes - which they were some of the nicest ones that she owned - if she showed up at the field for practice with them. One of the girls would probably spray mud up at her on purpose and she would be sure to win money if she put a bet on that girl being Satu Niemi. Not that that mattered right now. What mattered was getting some food in her stomach before she went in. Seriously self, we can focus - ohhhhhhh, there's a place! Despite having lived in Scarlet Oak for a little over a year now, Elaine was still not familiar with all the little restaurants. Not even the more popular ones. She had heard people talk about the Owl's Nest and yet she had never managed to take herself inside. Today that was changing because it was sort of right there and she was starving. Decided, the were ducked inside and shook of her umbrella, careful to keep the drops from splattering onto her outfit.
Though that was soon one of the least important things on her mind because she had just taken a breath and the smell... oh yes, there was food, but that was not what made her freeze mid-shake, eyes wide while she looked up and around. Elaine had smelled, and even met, other were's before. There were even a few birds scattered in there. But other than her, and Tanner, there was not another were-falcon. Yeah, this scent that she was picking up had slight differences from her own, ones that made her want to ruffle her currently metaphoric feathers, but she was suddenly too excited to let that bother her. It was not just a light scent from someone who was eating there, it was heavy and overlayed like it had always been there and just got a refresher on a practically daily basis. Which meant that what, were-falcons ran the place? That would be so awesome! Elaine snapped her umbrella shut and walked towards where the scent was strongest - and stopped because that was a door and on the other side she imagined was the kitchen. In movies it was always the kitchen that had the little glass windows for the chefs to peep through when they watched some important critic eating their food. Her mouth twisted in a frown and her nose wrinkled slightly at this unforeseen complication. Okay, so she still needed to eat, but that had taken a backseat to the curiosity she was feeling about these other falcons that just had to be in that kitchen. And she wanted to say hello. "What?" Elaine had been disturbed from her contemplations by what she imagined was the hostess asking if she wanted a place to sit. "Uhhhh... yeah sure, that table's good." Before the woman could get another word out she had slid herself into the nearest booth, eyes still fixed on the door. "Just a water. And do you have birds in the kitchen?"
