But Kristen didn't want to really look at Briony's lunch box. She'd seen the doodles and decided that she didn't want a closer look. She'd just wanted to compliment it and move on like it was over and the thing was gone. Someone had said 'out of sight out of mind' once and Kristen tried to make that the case. Except with the little tremors of fear that were chasing each other up and down her spine she couldn't really manage that. "Oh... umm..." Kristen tried to think of something else to say after being told that that was a brother who was all dead. And she wasn't coming up with anything. Except a burning feeling in the back of her throat that let her know how close she was to her eyes tearing up. She didn't want to think about anything being 'all dead' because that was how she'd seen Missy in her dreams and if she thought about dying things then she was going to think about her. Yeah, Missy wasn't dead, but she hadn't been able to see her yet so she didn't know how she was. Telling herself over and over that it'd be okay wasn't working as well as it should've been. It was like it was easier to be scared all of a sudden.
No no no no. Kristen didn't want to talk about what had or hadn't happened to her sister, especially not with two other girls she didn't know well at all. She wasn't sure if she liked them. Briony made her feel funny all over in a really bad way and Bubbles was just odd. She'd been too interested in Mitzi. Mitzi... Great, now there were two things that Kristen didn't want to think about going through her head. She bit at her lower lip and then started to chew it, shrugging she small shoulders and slumping further in on herself. "She got hurt," Kristen mumbled, picking up the little plastic spork that came with all the food so that she could stab it at the little rectangle of mushy peas she wasn't going to eat. Their peas were awful. Yeah, that was good, focusing on peas was good. If she could focus on peas then she didn't have to think about anything else in the world. Not about Missy or -- how come Briony was getting in on it too? Something, that little sense that pinged in the back of her head to let her know things she wouldn't have otherwise, was going off. "Nothing's wrong with her. She's going to be fine, she just needs to rest and get better and then she'll back to normal. Nikita says so." Nikita wouldn't lie to her. But I haven't seen her... That sense of fear was getting worse and Kristen shifted uncomfortably, moving as far over in the opposite direction from Briony as she could get.
