Kristen tried to keep her face the same as it'd been and she really hoped that her eyes weren't pink or red to give away how much she'd been crying the past few days. The last thing that she needed was to get teased by two other girls in her class who were actually sitting down with her for lunch. She didn't quite know the why behind it. Unless it was because there weren't any other empty seats at the other tables. That happened sometimes and it was awful because then they'd talk with each other and she'd just be left sitting there feeling like an outsider. So long as no one bothered her she never felt bad about things like that, but when they sat right with her it made things so much worse.
Ah, why did Briony have to sit next to her? Kristen shifted uncomfortably and leaned a little away from the dark-haired girl. She didn't know Briony very well, but she didn't think that anyone did. She was pretty sure that she'd been there for longer than Kristen and she didn't seem to have anymore friends than her. That should've meant that maybe they could've bonded over being outsiders, but Kristen didn't want to. Briony gave her the creeps. She was pretty sure that Briony gave a lot of people the creeps. This was just the first time that she'd been in the same class as her and she hadn't ever needed to spend a lot of time around her before. She was just glad that her desk was on the other side of the room. She couldn't imagine what it'd be like to sit next to her every day. Maybe that was mean, but Kristen didn't mean for it to be, she just didn't understand what it was about the other girl that made her so uncomfortable. Or scared? Was she scared of her? "Oh, ummm.... sure. Go ahead. I like grape." Kristen didn't think it was a big deal so she picked up her unopened box and moved it over to Bubbles before picking up the grape. If she even decided to drink it then she was fine with almost any flavor. Juice was better than soda. Kristen shifted again and looked back down at the table because it was so much easier than looking at either of the girls at the table with her. Briony made her uncomfortable or scared and Bubbles was just... there was something off about the other girl too. "I uh, like your lunchbox, Briony." See, she could be sociable! Even if she was steadily feeling more and more like she'd rather be hiding under the table.
