Normally Daniel was not one for accepting nicknames, but when they came from a pint-sized demon who attended his church and lived with a mortal family he felt like he could make an exception to that rule. So he made one for Briony when she decided to call him Danny-boy. "The Evils, huh?" Daniel chuckled at hearing that. To think that there was a woman in church who had decided to give the Evils look, as it was apparently called, to a little demon. "You should have kicked just a little harder, I can fix holes in a pew." The expression on her face would no doubt be priceless if she ever learned the truth of what said little girl was. And probably horrific. Daniel had seen those looks for himself, but he imagined they would be different if the demon was still a child. Movies that show-cased a child being evil showed the general opinion that could be held on them so... "An animal-lover and your age?" Daniel's interest was peeked. From the way that Briony had said it he was starting to think that there was another child-sized demon in Scarlet Oak. A shepherd if he did not miss his guess - which would have been hard with the hint that he was given - and those had always been entertaining. "Well, hopefully she'll decided to listen to you and come to church next time. We can always use more children." More demon children. They were always so out-numbered by the mortal ones.
Daniel turned his attention away from Briony only because the woman who was approaching was one that he did not know. He always made it a point to be extra-friendly to the newcomers to his church in the hope that they would decided to come back again and again and again. Usually he found a way to touch them as well, handshakes were such a convenient thing, so that he could reinforce the tiny hold that his power was naturally trying to find. Well, not quite naturally, but service only lasted a little over an hour and he had plenty of time left on his punch-card for the day. He could spare an extra few minutes for this new woman. "That is very kind of you," Daniel replied with his easy smile. People liked it when he smiled at them. They would have liked it less if they had been able to hear the thoughts that were going through his head when he did it. "I'm afraid that I don't know your name, miss, but I'm Pastor Daniel Lemuel and let me be the first to welcome you to Amazing Grace church." Still smiling he extended his hand. "And this little one-" Because Briony had stepped out and he had a feeling that ignoring her in any way would have been not only rude, but upsetting for her, he had decided to introduce her as well. "-is Briony Fells, one of our children. She seems to be a little shy this evening." It was a good thing that he was so practiced at lying through his teeth because otherwise he would have been laughing far too hard at thinking that Briony was shy.
