You think you know me & everything that you consider me Who: Aurora and Caelia Where: Backyard When: Mid-morning
Aurora had not thought that she was going to do anything today. And by that she had meant that she assumed she was going to spend the whole day with Aetheria, just sharing their emotions and thoughts like they always did on days like this. The rain was a gift from the gods, their mother had always said it was so, and Aurora did her best to appreciate it always. Even when they had been shut up away from the weather they had still known when it was storming out. Those were the best times in the world and to Aurora they still were. Or maybe they were even better because now they could go out and splash in the puddles with each other, or with the rest of the family too. Except for father. Aurora did not think that father would have much enjoyed going out in the rain and getting all messy. He would probably watch from the window like he had always done for a lot of their things. It made her sad when she thought about it; that Barnabas did not know what it was like to be an air elemental. Once she had thought that where he could hear and he had reassured her that he was not saddened by it. Aurora had then compared it to how she was not sad about being unable to see and he had agreed, though he had been quiet about it. Aurora did not understand why.
Only today had started off a little differently. After Aurora had gotten dressed in what Aetheria had picked out for her she had found the most delightful thing downstairs - Caelia! Aurora knew that she should have stayed inside with all of her sisters and parents, and Dashiell, but for just a moment she had felt a little... was the word selfish? Aurora wanted to have time with Caelia. Just Caelia. She had even insisted that Neveah stay inside so that her feathers did not get wet, before she asked if Caelia would come outside in the rain with her for awhile. For some reason there had been a small part of her almost waiting for Caelia to say no, but that had not happened! No, Caelia had agreed to come out and now they were both in the backyard being soaked by the rain. Aurora had even pulled the hood of her hoodie - she had insisted on it, knowing how much Cheila enjoyed them and thinking that it must mean they were very comfortable and good - and was delighted with how it felt wet. All heavy and yet still somehow warm. Because it was still a summer rain. The cold had not come yet. She wondered how cold it got here... maybe Caelia knew? Her older sister was very smart.
Aurora leaned down to unlace the shoes she had so carefully put on and set them aside so that she could wade into a shallow puddle in the backyard, delighted at the way the grass squished between her toes. "Caelia?" It was a little harder to hear with the rain and without Neveah or Aetheria there she was not quite sure where her sister had gone. But she was not worried, she was there somewhere. "Do you think it will get very cold here when winter comes?" Her face brightened and she bounced up a little. "Do you think it will snow a lot?" There were other, actually important, things that she had meant to say... but they had been swept up by the wind and ushered to some far-away place where they could not bother her. Aurora wanted them to stay gone. She did not want to think of any serious things today. All that she wanted to do was play in the rain with her oldest sister, the only one she had not played with since they had been reunited.
