The day had been long and hard and she still was having a hard time dealing with it. Telyn was more than grateful for people being in her life that helped her deal with this stuff, especially Adam. This time, when things got tough, he was the first person she turned to and she felt very lucky to have him in her life, to call him her boyfriend. It was the shining moment at the end of the day, even if she was soaking wet from working in the rain all day. Towards the end of her shirt, before she even thought about going him, one of the volunteers fell in the rubble and likely broke his arm. Telyn had taken her Jeep to the bombing site and she was the one entrusted to take him to the hospital, signaling the end of her day as well. She was certainly not going to complain. They weren't finding anything positive anymore.
When she got in, she filled out the paperwork for him and kept his arm elevated and planned on sitting with him. Once the paperwork was done, she sent a quick text to Adam, wanting to see if he'd like to get a quick bite or just stop by and see her. She knew that she might be using him as an emotional crutch, but this was all still very new and she needed to figure out how to deal with the devastation she was dealing with now on a daily basis. It was more than she'd ever thought she would do in her job. There was a man in front of her, one who looked injured and frustrated. Yep, that was a sigh of frustration.
"You okay?" she asked, leaning against the desk, now going to have to wait for the nurse to come back and take the forms on her clipboard. She'd shrugged off her fireman's jacket, using it to prop up the volunteer's arm, but she still had an SOFD tee shirt on and pants that were just as dirty as his were. Had he been down to the bombing site?
