"Kind of the same," Lauren said, flicking a nail idly against the edge of the menu that had been on the table, "but I've been here longer. Half a year or so? I lose track. I stay until it's time to go, basically. Been like that since I left home. I didn't intend to stay here very long, but this town's actually pretty interesting. Especially given its size. I was working in a tattoo shop that got trashed by demons. I mean, how many people can really say that?" She grimaced slightly. "Not like I'm proud of it - believe me, dealing with the insurance company is like a special hell - but it's a hell of a conversation starter."
She paused when the waitress approached, order pad out and eyebrow cocked expectantly, a casual, "What can I getcha?" a second later. Lauren didn't really have to think about it - "I'll do the cheeseburger plate with everything except onions, please, and a coffee." Normally a milkshake might've gone down nicely but she was wet and getting cold in the diner's AC, so she wanted things to keep her warm. Sticking the menu back in its holder, she sat back and fell quiet to let Jackson order.
