When Bubbles wanted to do something on the playground she did it. It didn't matter to her that there were other kids doing it. If they were there then they'd be made to leave and it never took that much for her. If the cute face and pout didn't do it, which it never did with other kids, then her being herself was usually plenty enough. A few well-chosen words along with a smile that said 'I'll do it and you know I will' and they had scattered, leaving her alone to hop away to her little heart's desire. Why she'd picked the hopscotch she didn't know but she was sure having fun singing made up little rhymes as she went. And she never, ever hit the lines. She'd played this game far too many times to even trip and stumble. If there was a national competition of hopscotch then she'd be the hands down victor over all the other people.
Oh. Well. This was going to be fun. Bubbles had been all ready to go and tell whoever it was to go away before she made them when she realized who it was. She didn't even have to look to know because so far as she knew there was only one other kid in the school was a demon. "Hi Briony. I'm Bubbles." And she was. Bubbles hadn't ever had another name that she liked and if she had then she didn't remember it. Her parents had probably called her something different but her parents were long, long gone. "I've been wondering when you were going to come say hi." Since Briony was a demon and there weren't any other kids close, Bubbles didn't see why she had to fake the lisp or extra cuteness that she put into her words to make other kids and adults feel more at ease. That way they wouldn't know what she was. Briony didn't need to be made comfortable. She was a demon just like her. Because Bubbles just assumed that she was the same as her. A grown up demon who'd stopped aging when she was a child because it worked the best for her.
Finished with her hop-through, Bubbles stopped and stared. How'd she do it? Was she really being asked that question? Another demon was asking her how? And why did she suddenly have -- ohhhhhhh. She was unsettled and the hairs on the back of her neck had stood up because this was a demon and she had to be a Vice. Fear? Hmmm, maybe, she'd never met one of those before. Vices could be so weird. "I told them that if they didn't go away I'd make their teeth into a necklace." Bubbles grinned brightly. "And pointed out how no one would believe them if they said I'd said it because I'm just a little girl and what could I ever do to them? They're sooooo much bigger." Bubbles started hopping her way back to the other end, determinedly ignoring the prickle on the back of her neck. "We're not exactly the same. I think you're a Vice and I'm a Shepherd. That and..." Bubbles paused, quirking her head to the side in a way that she'd been told was adorable. "How old are you, Briony?" You could ask kids those things.
