Troy had little to no idea that he was helping to reassure Jackson that there were good people out there--that wasn't the reason why he did what he did. He truly believed that people were just like him, and wanted nothing more than to be good to each other. It didn't always work out like that, and for that Troy still felt the sting of it, but he would always do what he could to be a light in the darkness of the world, however small. He just liked people, and he felt that there was nothing wrong with that. Still, it felt nice to help someone relax a little bit, even if Jackson might take a while to befriend completely. Troy only saw it as an opportunity to make another friend, to be a supportive person for someone who, if he knew anything about body language, looked like they needed that. He didn't believe in showing pity to people, it often went wrong that way. What he did believe in was being friendly and compassionate, and maybe, just maybe, Troy's actions would breed the same sort of treatment in others.
Troy could understand not enjoying being lost. Any sort of road trip they ever took was either close enough that he wouldn't get disoriented, or somewhere he'd been as a child. Troy didn't do so well without the familiar places around him, like these woods. "You should be fine, it's not the biggest town in the world." Troy nodded, glad that Jackson understood that he could look to him for help. "I always have my cellphone on me." He was not always next to his office phone, though, which was probably the sole reason he ever had a cellphone. The small smile on Jackson's face felt to Troy like he'd made progress, and that just made him happy. "You're very welcome, anytime." Since they were close enough, and Troy was pretty old fashioned, he brought his hand up and offered it to Jackson. "It was nice to meet you, Jackson."
