Through her confusion, her brother's affectionate gesture was something solid that she could hold onto. He began to explain what had happened and her eyebrows drew together even more than they were. "Why? Why would anyone do that?" That seemed to be the most prevalent question in her mind. Now that she was more awake and realized that August was okay, she blinked her tears away. Now was not the time for hysterics. She knew that. Besides, if she was going to take hold of any emotion, it was going to be anger. Heaven help the people who were behind this if any of her siblings or pack members were hurt. She would find them and she would make them pay.
"Everything hurts, Auggie," She responded sarcastically. That was the old Farren slipping through the chaos. "My head," She reached up to show him where exactly, pointing to a place in her hairline where the skin had broken from her fall. "And my foot," With the same hand, she gestured to her foot. The foot in question was red and bruised and was missing a shoe. She hadn't even realized yet. "Last I checked I could still walk, might not be quite as good at it now, but we can try."
When he asked her about the others, she felt her stomach drop. "Not since before." She licked her lips, locking her eyes on her brother's. "We'll find them, Auggie. We have to." Swallowing, she took hold of his wrists. "Help me up. I can't take this smell anymore."
