The sound of Lux's humor eased some of the tension in Troy and he was glad that she wasn't so afraid of the situation as to be able to laugh at it. "Okay." The smile that he was rewarded with made an answering one take up residence on his face, sure that that smile meant that she understood. "I beg to differ." Troy might not be the best thing in the world, really, but he knew when he was needed. And he was sure that with time, Lux would understand that her insistence made no sense whatsoever.
The smile on Troy's face grew a bit when Lux began kissing his fingers, finding that that was just another thing about this whole afternoon that felt wonderful. "More stupidity and inexperience than pain, really." That scar could be sexy was another new idea that Troy filed away to think about later. With a twinkle in his eye, Troy kissed Lux's finger where it silenced any further word he might utter. He watched her watch him, looking up into her face as if it was the most precious thing in the world. And to him, it was. Lux had always been that bright, shining person he couldn't imagine living without. Sure, she had a bit of an edge, a dark side, but that had only attracted him further. There was a depth to her personality he hadn't experienced with anyone else, and he just knew that he would give anything just to show her how wonderful she was. And that wasn't even taking into account her beauty, which had always been staggering. Troy had just a moment to brace himself in case his face betrayed anything Lux might mistake for disgust--not that he could ever feel that way about her. Once the tank top was gone, Lux was only covered by a sports bra and Troy had to admit that he was positively floored by the sight. In a good way.
Troy reached between them, his hands going back to her sides where he'd touched before. Her skin was still very soft, but now he could see the series of bite scars that traveled along her right side. He knew that Lux was watching him, watching for some sign of displeasure or disgust, but she wouldn't get that from him. He couldn't say exactly what it was he was feeling but he did know that it was a strange mixture of hope, longing, and empathy. He knew what pity did to people and he refused to go that route. His fingertips caressed her gently, his eyes going back up to her face before he gave her a soft smile. "You're beautiful," was all he murmured. Sure, the scars were jagged and covered a large portion of her right side, but Troy couldn't see anything other than the fact that Lux had overcome something that lesser people would have died from. The fact that she was still struggling with the effects from the attack was a testament to her unrelenting spirit. "Nothing can change that, because it comes from here." He lifted a brow, his smile a little bit more sly than before as he pressed his palm onto her chest directly over her heart. It was easy to feel the way her anxiety had sped her pulse, and Troy leaned in close to press a firm kiss to Lux's lips, his hand on her chest moving to her neck as he pulled her closer.
