Somewhere deep inside her, Maddie knew there was a certain degree of safety brought about by living with her father. He was a master of his element (and with the added boost given to him by Odessa), he could definitely protect her from any baddies that would try to hurt her. And until she was 100% sure about them, she wouldn't take a vampire home with her anyway. The whole invitation thing. Out loud, however, Maddie just said, "Then the llama would be impossible to shake," she grinned at her friend. "This way, dad can distract him while I go have my fun. If I moved out, he would be everywhere and I would go insane...whether I killed him or not. It's a lose-lose situation. Besides, it's like living at a bed-and-breakfast for free."
All those were true, as well. There were certain upsides to living with her father. And, at the moment, they sort of outweighed the negatives. She often complained about her living situation but, really, it was in her best interests. And until she figured out what she was really going to do with her life (serving coffee and answering phones was all well and good but she wasn't about to do that for the rest of her life), she didn't really see herself moving. Despite certain inconveniences.
