Brain-freeze!
Who: Alanna and Chloe
Where: The park
When: Late afternoon
Today Alanna was breaking one of her many rules regarding what she would and would not eat. And this was not one of those things that she was picky about because her chipmunk side went "um no" at it, this was one of those things that she avoided because spending all that time working with dental education and teeth made her think twice before she ever engaged in sugary goodness. But today. Today was a special day because it was the first time that she had ventured willingly out of her apartment since the news had been let out about what had happened to Zach Temple. He deserved it, she told herself, fidgeting as she tugged on her old leather gloves that she was just unable to leave the apartment without no matter how hot it was. Not today. Not after she had gone through talking with the police way too many times. Again. First it had been going on because she refused to tell them what had happened to her and now it was because they had found out what had happened. Because of Zach's corpse and his apparent inability to take her cage out. No one thinks about what could happen to everyone else if they die and the police go looking through their place. Consideration is dead.
So was Alanna's resolve because she had a mint chocolate chip waffle cone that she was going at quite happily. It was the first time that she had had ice cream since she was in high school and it was absolutely delicious. Her friends who insisted that she needed to get some sugar in her now and again would have been so proud of her. Or somewhere between proud and terrified of what would happen now that she had it in her because Alanna was spazzy enough without adding sugar to the mix.
But it tasted so good. And the only way to truly enjoy ice cream on a hot summer day was to take it to the park and just settle on a bench and watch everyone else. The nice and normal people who were not out stalking chipmunks or eating babies or sucking the blood out of the living because they needed it to keep going... Alanna did not have anything against vampires, no, she had met that nice-ish one a few weeks ago, but it was really hard for her to feel comfortable around them when she knew that they needed blood to survive and she happened to be rather full of it. "There are no vampires," Alanna told herself, fidgeting with her shorts before taking a full-on bite out of her ice cream without even thinking about it. She regretted it instantly, but it took a split-second longer for the brain freeze to hit. "Ahhhhhhhhh." The redhead whimpered and clutched her head with her free hand, willing the freeze to just go away. This right here was another reason why ice cream was not a good thing. No matter how delicious it was. Ice cream was secretly evil.
