never get between a girl and her snacks
Who: Frankie and OPEN
Where: Grocery Store
When: Morning
So. This was Scarlet Oak. The jury was still out on whether or not Frankie actually liked it; she certainly hadn't seen enough of the small town to even form the smallest of opinions. More than anything she was relieved to finally be with Faith again. She hadn't really been worried that Faith would kick her out and refuse to see her. Not entirely. Well... the part of her that had even considered the possibility was so miniscule it wasn't even worth mentioning. Frankie was still on her best behavior and would probably remain that way for the rest of the week. She had gotten up early this morning -- early for her, at least -- and unpacked her things, which would have remained by the door until Faith fussed at her to put them away. Once that was finished, Frankie went around the house straightening up the clutter that had been left unattended to while Faith recovered from her bite. She even did the dishes -- an act that would no doubt cause Faith to demand to know where the real Frankie was hiding. And now, now she had found herself out in town, heading to the grocery store to buy her lady some more poptarts. At least the weather here was nice. Frankie was meant for warm weather; it was in her blood. Though the rise in temperature might have been sweltering to some of the town's people, but she was loving it. The heat sun against her bare skin reminded her of being back home and if Frankie closed her eyes and ignored the smell of the new place, she could pretend that she was back in Africa again. Whatever nostalgia she had been feeling was wiped away with the shock that came from entering the air conditioned grocery store. A shiver ran down her spine as she adjusted to the change. Her eyes instantly went up to the signs posted over each of the aisles in search for some word that would give her a hint as to where they were hiding the poptarts. It wasn't the first time she had been in a grocery store before, but no matter how many times she did, Frankie didn't think she would ever get used to the sight of so much food stored in one place. She instantly felt her stomach begin to growl and stir with hunger. After picking up one of the plastic baskets beside the door, Frankie decided to head for the aisle marked "Cookies and Snacks". It seemed like as good a place to start as any. She slowly walked down the aisle, initially looking for Faith's treats, but the farther down she went, the more she was distracted by the snack food. Her eyes widened with joy at all the choices and once again her stomach cried out. Cheese-its, Chex-Mix, Teddy Grahams -- Frankie was picking up everything that caught her attention. The hunger in her stomach was beginning to be too much for her to ignore. Cautiously, she broke the seal on one of the boxes and opened the bag inside. Popping a handful of her chosen treat into her mouth, Frankie smiled. She didn't think she would get into much trouble for eating a bit of the food before she bought it, not that she would have cared if she did. |
