Loose in the hospital
Who: Darcie and Quinn
Where: UofM hospital
When: Afternoon
Today was beautiful. Today was beautiful because it wasn't yesterday and that meant that the rain and storms had gone away. That was always a wonderful thing and Darcie had spent over an hour laying out in the sun that morning, soaking up the warmth that she had been missing. That it was too humid and other people were staying inside didn't matter to her. She lived off the heat and couldn't get enough of it. She'd have moved to a warmer land in the south if it wasn't for the fact that she knew Zaviar wouldn't and she didn't want to be that far from him. Rodger would probably move in a heartbeat if she asked, but she wouldn't. She'd just have to remember to ask for a bigger heat lamp so that this feeling could be engaged in every single day. Especially on those days when it was doing that awful storming thing outside where the wind was raging -- trying to steal every last thing away -- and the rain pounding with the lightning flashing and trying to kill her. No, no Darcie couldn't go outside in that and that had been why she hadn't kept any of her appointments. The phone had rang and Rodger had explained to the doctors on the other side that it wasn't happening, but they still weren't happy. Darcie didn't see what was so hard about it. She wouldn't go out in storms. That was it. She'd been forced into one already that month and she wasn't going to be dragged out into another.
But today she'd gone outside willingly and Rodger had reminded her that yes, she had to go to the hospital or else they'd want to keep her there for longer than an appointment again, so she had cooperated because it would've been too much of an effort to argue. And if Rodger couldn't get her then he'd usually turn to Zaviar, but the other snake had his little fire elemental pet and Darcie didn't want to see her. Last time had gone badly enough and really, no one needed to be dragged through dealing with someone like Madeleine twice when it was obvious that she wanted to burn her to a cinder. Granted Darcie wanted to bite her until she was past dead...
Ah well, she'd gone to the hospital and suffered through her appointment. She'd even been let out a little area. When she'd gone into the waiting room, Rodger hadn't gotten there yet. So she'd decided that she was going to take a walk. Now she wasn't supposed to do that. She'd been taken aside and given several Serious Talks about the matter and she wasn't listening to any of them because the waiting room was boring. "Everywhere is boring," she declared, fingers trailing along the surface of the wall she was walking next to, ignoring the people around her. "There's never anything interesting happening here." Her eyes flicked to the next person coming up in her direction. "You need to have more snakes. Or some rats. Then there'd be something to do."
