"Apparently so! I bet they were. I haven't had baked goods this great in...forever, actually." Look at her, going out of her way to compliment Quentin's girlfriend on her talents. And she wasn't lying, either. The girl, whoever she was, was very good at what she did.
Still unable to control when or whose thoughts she tapped into, Renee accidentally caught Quentin thinking about that fateful night at the lake and Renee looked away, at once visibly disturbed. He had saved her, though, and if that wasn't being lucky, Renee didn't know what was. "Never good to question a good thing too much, right?" She joked, though there was no humor in her voice and her smile didn't reach her eyes at all.
Fortunately the tapping heard on the kitchen window distracted them both from their conversation. Renee looked at the window to see a seagull perched on the ledge outside. "Well that's...Unique." She had to laugh slightly at Quentin's hand-waves, especially when the seagull was not going away at all. "I don't think it's going away until it wants to." She weighed in, a bit more amused than before.
