Artus nodded. "That definitely counts." He was all too happy to hear that she was enjoying herself as well which probably led to his line of thinking that sharing this next bit of information was a good thing. "For me it would have to be that I let my sister do 'make overs' on me. Once she dressed me up as a girl. I don't know what part of it was more terrifying - the fact that I was wearing lipstick or that I was actually a pretty convincing woman." Those words should have never been uttered. She would never look at him the same would she?
Verity parted her lips to respond, but she found there weren't really any words that were approrpriate for that kind of thing. She wasn't shocked, or repulsed. In fact... she was kind of amused. Very amused. She burst into laughter and had to set down her fork to cover her mouth. It wasn't to much that he let his sister dress him up as much as he thought he was a convincing woman.
Well she'd have to see the pictures sometime if she didn't think he could be a very pretty woman. See this was the curse of having a sister! The fact that she would do this crap to you and then be so darned good at it that she made you think all of this weird crap was somehow right. Della would pay for this one day. "Did I mention that she wants to give me a mohawk now too?" He took her laugture as a sign of her having fun. He was having fun too which was why he didn't think about all that he had just said. Admitting that he thought he was pretty as a girl probably didn't help the whole date side of things.
Verity shook her head, her body still wracked with giggles as she tried to force herself to calm down. But there was the mental image of Artus with lipstick and his hair in pigtails and... it was just too much. She dropped her hand and took a deep breath, exhaling it through smiling lips. "I think I would prefer you in a mohawk than girl's clothes," verity said with another soft laugh. "Otherwise I might have to start questioning my attraction to men."
"Please don't do that. Please don't become a lesbian because of me. I don't think I could ever recover from that." He was still smiling despite saying those words. If that ever happened he would most definitely be stuck forever in his apartment hiding out from the world. Never again attempting dating. "Well what if it was mohawk to this. And there were no girls clothing involved, they couldn't make me put on that stupid dress."
She laughed again and nodded. "I promise... no sexuality changes for me. And I guess as long as you avoided putting on women's clothing... then it's okay." Verity grinned and leaned back in her chair. "I think that's a much better confession than me knowing how to play guitar. I'm an only child so I don't have any of those embarrassing sibling moments."
"You're lucky for that. Delphine abused her privileges as a sister often. However, I don't think I would trade even the bad memories at this point. Maybe we could make a trade. You could play me a song for every chapter of mine?" He offered with a smile.
"Uhm..." Verity thought about it for a few moments before she grinned. "Okay, sure... although depending on how many chapters you wrote, that's a lot of songs. I may have to learn a few new ones. But it would be good motivation if it means I get to read more of your book. And I would say if your sister abused her privileges often, it's only because you let her," she said, nudging at his foot under the table with hers. "Unless she totally overpowered you, of course, and you have no choice."
