Jonas was more than just a little old fashioned - but then again, he'd been raised in a completely different time period, and it made sense in his mind. His virtue was honor and that meant he was going to show her the respect she deserved, no matter the circumstances. And he was damn proud of that handshake he got from her, too. Meant that she had a bit of pride, and that she wanted to put her best foot forward. So far, so good.
The word "boyfriend," even if she didn't finish saying it, still struck a chord in him. Was it possible to be protective over someone he'd only learned just existed? ...Well, yes, in Jonas' world, it was. It was not a matter of if he met this friend of hers, but when, Jonas would eventually see to that. "When I was younger," much younger, "I grew up on a farm, down in Tulsa. Always had some sort of animals running around, dogs and cats and what not. Most of them could fend for themselves, but every once in a while, we always ended up taking one in." Dogs were Matthias' weakness, not his. Jonas was still trying to figure out how he got stuck with a spider monkey, for crying out loud.
