Cameron was just putting the finishing touches on the plates when he heard a car pull up in the driveway. Leaning back to glance out the window he was surprised to see a taxi instead of Amanda's car. Had it broken down? Or, more likely, it probably had something to do with the fact that there was an unknown vampire highlighting the news. Cameron didn't even want to think about that. He'd been doing his best to avoid thoughts of that all day in favor of focusing on this dinner and assuring himself that Amanda wouldn't see a thing wrong with his gift. The point was that he'd remembered without any encouragement whatsoever. He'd heard horror stories from friends and colleagues alike about what happened when a man went and forgot that very important date. And he knew Amanda well enough to know that his horror stories would beat all of those if he'd forgotten her birthday this soon after getting married.
"In the kitchen," Cameron called in reply when he heard Amanda. He'd moved back there to put the pot in the sink and to make sure that the cake was still in the fridge. Should Amanda see that by accident that'd ruin it and Cameron wanted tonight to be as close to perfect as possible. With the dishes set and soaking, he turned his attention around in time to see Amanda smile at him before letting her hair down. Kink or not he didn't care, but he didn't feel like he had to say that. It should be obvious. It's her birthday though. "Your favorite, and it's actually done. I took the afternoon off work." After wiping his hands on a hand towel he stepped closer and reached up to remove Amanda's bluetooth, having a feeling that she hadn't even noticed it was still there. Amused, he set it on the table. "You look wonderful, Amanda. And happy birthday." He leaned down and gave her a light kiss before nodding towards the dining room. "Unless you're not hungry, then I can put it in the oven and you can have your gift first."
