It happened too fast for Kristen to do anything. One moment she was dwelling on how stupid Eloisa's name was and the next the woman was reaching for Mitzi. "You-" the word didn't make it all the way out. Mitzi stopped growling, because Mitzi's teeth were clamped down on the hand that had reached out. Kristen's gaze was horrified as she dropped the leash and stretched her hands out to try and take her back. "Mitzi, let go!!" Missy had said she was a good dog and this wasn't how good dogs acted. Not even a little, not at all. Kristen's eyes narrowed when she got Mitzi off and she glared at Eloisa. "That's your fault! I told you not to pet he! I told you!!" Irritation had flashed to anger with a twinge of fear because Kristen knew what happened to dogs who bit people. Oh, there was blood on Mitzi's muzzle... it was on the fingers she'd clamped over it to keep her from snapping again. Kristen tried to calm her down, but that was hard to do when she was so upset herself. She'd told Eloisa not to pet her, she knew that she had. Why hadn't she listened to her?
