That feeling in her stomach was getting worse. Kristen pressed her free hand to her stomach, wincing a little. Mitzi just seemed delighted to be out, sniffing at everything and paying no attention to anything, until suddenly her ears went up. The hair on the back of her neck stood up and not half a second later, Kristen heard an unfamiliar voice call out to her. Tightening the grip she had on the leash, she turned quickly and blinked at what she saw. A woman who looked older than Missy, or close to her age, with her fingers closed around something. She's up early... maybe she jogs? Kristen knew that sometimes adults liked to go and do that. She'd have to do it too when she got older, keep in shape. What's up with her eyes? They almost looked like they were red and Mitzi didn't seem to like whoever it was. Her ears had gone down and she was crouched at Kristen's feet, a quiet growl mixing with a whine. "Shhh, Mitzi." Kristen leaned down to pat her on the head quickly. If she'd been able to whine she might've too because that feeling in her stomach was making her wish that she hadn't left her room after all.
"I didn't drop anything," Kristen told the woman. "Don't have anything with me but Mitzi and she's attached to a leash. See?" Not supposed to talk to strangers. Missy did it all the time. It was hypocritical -- that was the right word, right? -- of her sister to tell her not to do things that she did all of the time. "But thanks. It's nice of you to look out like that." Kristen was trying to be polite. Trying because she almost felt like, in addition to the upset in her stomach, like she was getting irritated. For no reason at all. Weird.
