"So again, by your own argument, just why should you be allowed to see the mayor?" Amanda's shoulders rose in a disbelieving shrug that could have actually been mistaken as apologetic on top of it. It really wasn't her fault that Liliya's previous statements were unashamedly rolling over her own arguments. And yes, they all knew where she shrug because the bitch wouldn't shut the fuck up about it. Even when she wasn't saying it outright - she was. Amanda defied any self-respecting lawyer or politician not to be able to pick out every reference in their conversation so far. Seriously, they all knew she supported her precious little fangers. They got the message. She and Cameron had probably burned the message at some point, but it had still gone out and far further than it had the right to. "I've never played at being anything; human rights, vampire rights, in this case it really shouldn't make a difference. The same consequence can be predicted, the same programs of action planned. For instance, I really don't think either of us wants the school itself to be attacked come Monday just because some moron thought they could get to your student." Oh yes, the credit for that alleged fanged minor was going to Liliya. "And God forbid an attack come from within Scarlet Oak High School." She wasn't even joking, and her expression rather said as much. How many human children or members of staff could suffer from that?
Oh, please. "Since I can't have anyone bring you a tea or coffee, would you prefer a scratching post? Your claws are blunt." Did people not get the message? That 'sticks and stones' rhyme generally did apply in Amanda's case, even when the words being thrown were aimed at other people. Possibly especially when they were aimed at other people since those people weren't her. The last person - people, rather - who had successfully come close to insulting her were her and Cameron's mothers, commenting on her waistline for the-- No, she didn't even know how many times, but it was during the refitting for the wedding dress and she could just have done without it. Instead of feeling genuinely insulting, though, Amanda had mostly just come away worrying she looked anorexic. That passed. "Like I said, twice the idiot." She hated fangers with beyond a burning passion, but she was also of the opinion that if you had ammunition you should use it. "Possibly a minor vampire. So you're acknowledging that they might not actually be a minor at all despite appearances." Oh, that was too good. Perfect, in fact. It took all of Amanda's willpower not to just laugh. The rest of whatever Liliya had said was going completely ignored because she was sure she had already answered the important part of it around half a dozen times already. But she kept 'childish' in her figurative armoury along with every other weapon she possessed and would never be caught apologising for it. Her eyebrows raised in mild amusement, then drew together again. "Sorry, was he using her for anything specific other than just sitting there?" She looked at Molly. "No? Then coffee, please." One hand waved the gopher - well, that was all she was - off and she flashed Liliya another smile as she moved to sit behind her own desk. Really it wouldn't do to be seen having arguments with an opposing 'rights' group member in the middle of the town hall. "Then by all means, wait. And call in your big guns; she can wait with you should she choose to show." And if she chose then to try and burst through those doors, Amanda was calling security. The Senator would love that.
