Talking with Alanna had put Edie in a decidedly sociable mood. She had enjoyed speaking with the Were, despite her less than chipper attitude or the fact that Edie had only come to her room for the blood. Since she had moved to Scarlet Oak, less than four months ago, she hadn't made it a point to go out anywhere. She had never really found the desire to go out and interact with the town, especially not after recent events. Then word of a vampire bar opening began to circulate. Granted most of what she had heard was rumor whispered amongst the hospital staff, most of them too scared to go and see for themselves -- if they even could. She had often toyed with the idea of going herself, if nothing else than to see what it was like. Her limited experience with vampires, aside from Augusta and Felix, left her imagination to run rampant with wonder. But no matter how many times she had prepared to go -- even to the point of getting dressed and reaching for the door -- some how Edie found a way to talk herself out of it. But tonight felt different. Tonight she felt like meeting new people. If worst came to worst, she would leave the place with a renewed reason for avoiding the outside world. Edie felt nervous the entire drive over to Heme, and it was a long drive at that. At many points on the winding road Edie had worried that she had gotten the wrong directions and was headed off into the middle of nowhere. The longer she had time to think by herself, the more the butterflies in her stomach fluttered. Finally she arrived at her destination. It didn't look like much, certainly nothing to be talked about. As she stepped out of her car, straightening out her clothes as she walked over to the entrance, Edie worried if her outfit had been the best choice. She hadn't made it a habit of going out to the human bars before, so had little to no clue as to what was acceptable wear for a night out. It was so much simpler when she could just throw something on, without worrying whether or not someone was looking at her. There was a man at the door checking the IDs of a few humans entering before her. Edie fumbled in her bag for the ID that noted her as a vampire before the man motioned her to come on in. As she got closer, she realized that he was a vampire as well -- he must have known she was just the same. The inside of the bar was startlingly different from the outside. Edie felt dumbfounded. She had never seen anything like it. Her eyes instantly scanned the entire room, counting everything from the tables to the stools -- even the dancers. She fought the urge to turn tail and walk back outside to her car. Edie took a breath for strength and kept moving toward the bar. She wasn't sure what kind of drinks they could offer her, but it couldn't hurt to find out. Edie stood nervously tapping her fingers on the bar, counting the bottles she saw as she tried to build up the courage to ask for something. |
