You're a little too young to understand
Who: Kristen and Missy
Where: Peloe home
When: Evening
It really wasn't that hard to figure out that something was bothering her little sister. Missy had known Kristen for her entire life after all, and taken care of her for something like half of it now. If she couldn't figure out when something was wrong with her then she would have needed to consider herself a complete failure instead of only partially one. Which she did - the partially bit that was. She knew that their mother would have done a far better job with Kristen than she ever could hope too. But their mother was dead and it wasn't possible for her to do any job at all. So Missy just had to try her hardest and acknowledge the parts where she fell more than a little short. It's not all of them, she reasoned with herself as she unlocked the front door and walked in. The sound of music filled the house, coming from upstairs. Kristen's room. And it wasn't the music that she listened to when she was feeling creative and just needed the help. No, it was her self-dubbed 'angry music' and Missy had to stop and decide if she was ready to face whatever problem her sister had now or if she needed to prepare herself first. Better to get it over and done with.
Sipping at the mocha she had picked up on her way back from the station, Missy mounted the stairs that led to the first - or second if you were thinking of it like Americans insisted - floor and her sister's room. The door was slightly ajar so she pushed it open slightly and leaned in. Sure enough there was Kristen, though she wasn't sitting in a little ball like normal when she was upset. Instead she was seated at the easel that Missy had gotten her for her birthday, hands practically a blur as she sketched out something that didn't have real shape yet. It would never cease to amaze Missy how her sister was so talented at such a young age. It's the fae blood. Why couldn't hers have given her a gift like that that was actually useful? The only real advantage she had over Kristen was that she could use their fae gifts, but Kristen would learn that one day. She'd be better at it than her. She'll be better than me. It didn't make her feel bitter at all. On the contrary she truly wanted Kristen to be a better person than her. Maybe like their mother. "Hey little sheila. What's that you're drawing there?"
