At least Kristen was upfront about how she felt. Children around that age generally were, but the amount that were actually mature about it were scarce. She almost reminded Nikita of how she was when she was a young girl back in Russia, but back then everyone was forced to grow up fast. There was never any time to actually be a kid.
Nikita had expected Kristen to mention something from Missy, but she never expected to hear some logical reasons behind that. Vampires killed their family... Nikita never had the slightest idea. She had always figured Missy was just a bitch and decided to wake up one morning hating vampires and that was that. Never in a million years would she admit it, but she at least understood that deeply rooted hatred now. Still didn't justify anything in the end.
Hearing Kristen's voice shaky made Nikita frown and she instantly knelt down before Kristen. She had to stop herself from pulling the girl into a hug, but at least remained close to let her know she wasn't going to back away. "Darling, you have nothing to be scared about. I'm not going to hurt Silvia or you." Missy is out of the question, though. "I would rather take my own life than harm a child. Just because vampires killed your family doesn't mean that all vampires are bad. I'm sorry you had to experience that, but you don't have to walk in your sister's footsteps." Nikita leaned in more to speak words meant only for Kristen's ears. "You're you and you have your own thoughts and feelings. You don't need people telling you how to think or feel. You don't have to be like her." You shouldn't be.
