I see your dirty face high behind your collar
Who: Alanna and Zach
Where: Zach's apartment
When: Waaaay late
The summer was going to be winding up soon and while Zach hadn't ever been a fan of that, he was even less of one now. Because now? He had something in his apartment that needed more attention than basketball practice did. It had red head - some of the time - wild eyes, pale skin and tended to spend more time curled up in a ball than anything else. But still, he couldn't just keep leaving her there. There'd been things in the paper, on the news, distraught people who apparently missed this girl. Her family, he supposed. He also supposed that he probably should care a bit more about that than he did. A normal person with normal feelings would've felt guilty for what had happened to her, for the changes that he hadn't been able to deny seeing creepy over her and settle in. Her eyes had been warm, if a little prone to panicking, before. Now? They were wild like those of an animal that'd been trapped for too long and forgotten what it was like on the outside world. The scent she gave off was still practically pure fear, intoxicating to all of his senses, but she wasn't changing as often. It was like she'd been changed in every way. The scent was the same but the thrill wasn't. It had faded and that meant it wasn't as fun. When it wasn't as fun it wasn't worth the risk that was probably getting a little higher every single day. It looked like it was time for him to have a talk with Alanna. See if he could let her go or if it was going to be necessary to, well, just let her stay there until she was gone. Aurelia'd approve of that.
Stretching out on the couch, Zach rolled over and propped himself up to regard the cage where Alanna was curled up. At least she was in her human form right now. "Hey," he called, voice lazy as he unfolded himself and walked over, leaning his forearm against the cage. "Alanna, sweetheart, why don't you just wake up so that we can have a little talk? Promise I'm not going to scare you this time." Maybe. Unless it was just too good to pass up.
