A little off was a good way of describing it, and it was by no means a bad thing. Mason had nothing to worry about - she did think about him that way, and she was wondering the same thing he was, if he could possibly think about her as more than a friend. She wasn't as good at interpreting signs and body language, her romantic past was evidence enough of that, and she could only pray she was doing something right. He was squeezing her hand back, and he wasn't pulling away from her touch. Actually, it kind of felt like it belonged there.
And there were plenty of thoughts running through her head. She wasn't worried about his family's approval, not really, though if she could change what she was, she would. She hadn't asked to be bitten, and was more than grateful Mason had been there, had never judged her for a second - even if he'd never seen how badly she'd been scarred, or asked for details about what happened. He was her alpha. Even if he didn't like her as anything more than a friend, he'd still be that.
"I'm not going to go anywhere, I promise." And it was. Kiley knew she had a tendency to pull away from people, and she still did every once in a while, but it was nothing like when she'd been bitten. In her mind, she'd already gone through the worst thing that could have ever happened to her and made it through, so it all had to be better from here on out, right? Kiley moved a little closer, completely ignoring the fact that the Mario Party title screen was just chilling on his TV, not the most romantic of music, but this was Kiley. It worked for her. "And I'm glad for that too, more than you know." She'd tell him if he wanted to know.... and she'd risk putting her foot in her mouth when he looked at her like she had three heads for assuming something she shouldn't have.
