Paint a picture black and white, write a book about the meaning of life Who: Kiley and Mason Where: Mason's penthouse When: Evening
Some things were impossible to hide from a Starbucks employee. When regular customers didn't come in, the baristas noticed, and Kiley was no exception. It wasn't often she actually asked after someone, though, and when she hadn't seen Mason in a couple days, yes, she worried. So, the first police officer who stopped in for a coffee - straight black, no room - she made a point to ask the guy if something was going on. The demon threat had passed, at least for the moment, so she knew it wasn't that, and she didn't want to pry if it just turned out to be that the guy was busy. The officer had just laughed, said Mason was at the station, having wobbled into work and stuck behind a desk all day. Hearing that little snippet was enough to make up Kiley's mind - she'd have to stop by and visit. She hadn't actually seen Mason in a week, since the gala, where she'd pretty much made a fool out of herself in front of his sister. Oops. At least tonight would be more on her terms, and therefore made for a more even playing field, so to speak.
She was happy she'd brought a change of clothes with her to work today. That meant she could make Mason's drink for him, knowing how particular he was about his coffee, and thus sparring any of her co-workers the pain of trying to get it right. A quick stop at her house to pick up some video games, not knowing what he had for entertainment, and off to Mason's it was. The moment she pulled up, Kiley knew her Blazer must look like an eyesore, but she pushed that thought aside. It wasn't like she was going to ask Mason to go joyriding with her, anyway. Slinging her bag over her shoulder, she made her way to the front door and knocked. The Ferrari was parked out front, so she figured he was home - unless he was driving one of his myriad of other cars, in which case, she was shit out of luck. Seriously, she was going to start wondering if Mason was secretly Bruce Wayne or something.
