One a scale of one to ten, Ari's expecting Raya was around a three; four or five if there was something big happening in either of their lives, so the visit was an unexpected one, and not just because she rarely had any visitors. It was a pleasant surprise though.
"I smell Chinese food," Ari said as a greeting and held the door open for her sister. Slowly, Ari closed the door behind her and locked it. She still wasn't sure why Raya was here, exactly, but given the food, Raya probably wasn't here to yell at her or something like that. Ari leaned back against the wood and offered a wee smile, hoping to minimize any potential awkwardness. That was the worst.
She didn't say it out loud, but she hated what had become of them. She used to love her sister to bits and she still did, but these days it was easier to just stay apart or stick to safer subjects it seemed.
