Makes me that much stronger, makes me work a little bit harder Who: Athena Hawkes and Nikita Vostrikova Where: Nikita's place When: Afternoonish
The day was too nice to simply sit inside, Athena decided. Having worked the morning at the library, she was free for the day and even the bookworm in her didn't want to spend a sunny afternoon amongst the stacks, getting lost in a book. Instead, the books would come with her, and she had a stack piled next to her in the front seat of her car. Maybe afterward she'd drive out to the lake and read before the sun went down. Still with a gun tucked into her purse, of course; Athena was never without a weapon.
And, speaking of weapons, Athena had made a quick phone call earlier in the day to a dear old friend of hers, Nikita. Who knew the Russian mob of vampires was in a sleepy little place like Scarlet Oak? Catching up had be done and with the afternoon free, Athena saw no reason to wait. Nikita was one of the few people who knew her true nature, and what she did on the side, and having one person she didn't have to hide it from was a refreshing change. There was also the hope, unlikely though it might have been, that Nikita might have heard something about Cassandra and why her sister had suddenly fallen off the face of the earth. Any lead was better than what Athena had at the moment, which was none at all. Besides, Athena was running low on ammunition, and Nikita did always show her the best toys. Girl needed to be stocked up, after all.
Pulling up outside Nikita's house, Athena grabbed her purse and paused for a second, waiting for the song to finish before getting out of the car. Why yes, she was belting out all the lyrics, and no, she was not ashamed of that. And it wasn't like there were any guys around to be mesmerized by the sound of her voice either. It was enough to leave a grin on her face as she finally climbed out of the car and went up to the door.
