Eat one cheeseburger and call me in the morning
Who: Chrissy and Harrison
When: Morning
Where: The clinic
Chrissy had spent most of the night awake, worried about the man that took blood from her attacking her again. She was still feeling a little lightheaded the following morning, so she decided she needed to go to the clinic. She wasn't about to tell the doctor what had happened. She just wanted to make sure she'd be alright, so she told the woman that she'd given blood and felt a little lightheaded afterward. The woman lead her to an exam room and sat her down on the little table there and told her to wait for someone to come in and see her.
Nights after the full moons seemed to be busier that most- or well this was his first full moon but it still seemed busier than the other nights and he remembered not so fondly that when there were full moons when he was still a resident things were pretty harsh. Harrison entered the exam room, still scanning the board with the girl... Chrissy's records. "Hello Chrissy." He said as he hooked the file onto the exam tray and stepped over to the wall to grab some gloves from the holder. "How are we feeling today?"
"Hello. I'm okay I guess. Just still a little light headed and I kind of have a headache. I gave blood yesterday and I've been feeling that way ever since. I wasn't sure if maybe it was just normal or something, or if something was wrong..." Chrissy explained to the man.
Harrison nodded. "A little light headedness and dizzyness isn't abnormal or anything to worry about." He said. "But it normally doesn't last too long. Have you been drinking fuild and eating food?" He asked as he grabbed a blood pressure cuff out of one of the cabinets. "Where did you donate?" He inquired, knowing that if it was something else the donation place would have to be notified as contaminated blood wasn't a good thing.
Sh*t. she thought to herself. She couldn't exactly tell him. If she told him, he'd be able to check and then he'd know that she hadn't given blood and... Crap. "Does that really matter?" she questioned. "I drank and ate a little..." Chrissy knew she should have eaten more than she did, but she wasn't going to gain another five pounds because of the f*cker that stole blood from her. Maybe she could distract the doctor with other things and he wouldn't remember to ask her again about the place she donated. "So it's normal to be lightheaded then?" she asked. "Then I must be fine. I don't have to waste your time if it's normal." she told him, but she rolled up her sleeve either way since he'd gotten the cuff out already. "You been a doctor for long?" she asked.
"Normal yes, but not for more than a day." He said. "If something else is wrong... like if you actually have the flu- for example- then I'd need to report it to the organization you donated to... don't want to get others sick with your donation of goodwill do we?"
Chrissy frowned at him. "I don't remember the name of it..." she lied. "I was out of town visiting friends and they had a blood drive going." she said, amazed at how easily she could fabricate something. "I'd have to call and ask them the name." Please just stop asking me about it...
Harrison nodded and moved over to her. "Roll up your sleeve." He directed as he readied the blood pressure cuff.
She finished rolling up her sleeve for him and held out her arm.
Harrison went ahead and took her blood preasure and noted it on the clip and went ahead to take her temperature. "Most hospitals do this part in triage." He told her. "We don't have the staff." He chuckled a bit. "Hold that there until it beeps."
She nodded a little, not answering him verbally to keep from messing up the temperature taking. When it beeped, she took it from her mouth and handed it over to the man. "I don't feel like I have a fever anything, but I did get caught in the rain last night." she said. Maybe that was what was wrong with her. She'd gotten wet. Soaked through and sat in wet clothes for a long time while she was passed out. Maybe she caught a cold.
Harrison took the thermometer and nodded. "Yea, it's perfectly normal." He said setting it aside and pulling out a little flashlight. "Follow the light." He said, dragging it past her eyes then had her look at his finger as he moved the light and watched her eyes.
She did as he said, following the light with her eyes and then following his finger with her eyes. She really wished she hadn't come in. There was probably nothing at all wrong with her.
He made another note on her chart before pulling out a prescription pad and jotted down something. He tore it off, folded it in half and handed it to her. "Here, this should help."
Chrissy looked down at the note and wanted to wrinkle her nose since all it said was something about eating a cheeseburger and fries and drinking juice and water. "So I'm not going to like die or anything?" she questioned, though she'd doubted that from the beginning.
Harrison shook his head. "Not from what I can tell. Probably just a bit under-nourished after your donation. You have to remember that a bit more than 60 grams are taken, that can take an effect. But, you have no fever you seem to be in good health. If the headaches continue you can always call me though." He said wiggling his finger at the paper, on the flip side had his number. "I know a couple teas that help with headaches- or if you're an over the counter type, two advil -with a meal-."
She nodded. "Okay." she said. "Thank you." she said. "Do I need to do anything else or am I ready to go?" Chrissy asked.
"You're good." Harrison told her. "Free to go. Just take it easy and don't try to do too much until your body recuperates."
Chrissy nodded again, folding the paper and tucking it into her pocket. She thanked the doctor again and gave a little smile before heading out of the clinic. Next time just suck it up.
