There's no such thing as satisfaction
Who: Lanni Kerrigan and Verena Schell
Where: Pirouette
When: Afternoon
Lanni looked out over the small group of little ballerinas gathered before her. This was her beginning class, and the oldest of these girls was only five years old, all of them beaming up at her. "That's enough for today," she said. "Gather up your things, and we'll be back here next week, okay?"
"Oh! Oh!" One of the girls, Marie, ran right up to Lanni and tugged on her hand. "Miss Lanni, can we practice at home? My mom has all these CDs and they sound pretty and I bet I can dance really well to them."
Lanni smiled. It had been a long time since anyone called her "miss," but it was sweet coming from the little girl. She kneeled down to Marie's height and tucked a little piece of hair out of the girl's face. "Of course you can, sweetie. Next time I'll bring you some of the music we played here, all right?" Nothing Lanni said could have made the girl happier, and by the time Marie's mom arrived to pick her up, the kid was literally talking her ear off about what she wanted to do. Lanni had been much the same when she first decided she wanted to dance, even if she hadn't physically been that young. Poor Daniel, he'd been so happy to indulge her then.
With the class dismissed, Lanni had a few moments to herself before the next one was to begin, so she put on some light music and did some light stretches while she waited for her students to arrive. These were some of her favorite moments in the studio, when it was just her and the open floor. It reminded her a lot of when she'd been studying herself, back in New York. The scenery around her might have changed, but her love for the genre certainly hadn't.
