Burn all the candles out
Who: Jillian and Ridic
Where: The fire station
When: A little after noon
There had been an alarm right before Jillian got off shift at noon, and she'd been half into her turnout gear already when they got word it was a false alarm. So Jillian stepped out of her gear again, making sure it was ready for the next time she was on call, and then head upstairs again to get changed. At least the little adrenaline boost would help keep her awake until a decent hour so she could sleep on a somewhat normal schedule. There was no way she wanted to be waking up at 2am on her birthday with nothing to do, only to end up falling asleep again in the evening before she got a chance to go out and have fun.
It was a warm day out, so Jillian put on shorts and a sleeveless blouse after she hung up her uniform her in locker. She pulled out the little tray on the top shelf to retrieve her jewelry and used the mirror on the door of the locker to put her earrings in. Jillian tugged the elastic off her ponytail and ran her fingers through her hair, preferring it down when she wasn't working, and shut her locker. Shouldering her purse, she waved goodbye to the guys who were still on shift and made her way out of the station.
As she pushed through the front door, she saw a guy hurrying towards the station and flashed him a smile. "If you got called in, don't bother going inside. False alarm - someone saw their neighbor on fire, but it turns out they're just a fire elemental, so we're unnecessary." Hey, just because she didn't know him didn't mean she wouldn't give him the heads up. She'd only just started at the station, so she didn't know everyone yet.
