Do you still like what you're seeing now? Who: Bianca, K-lee and Malo (NPC) Where: K-lee’s apartment When: 9:30 p.m.
Yeah, okay, Bianca had been wondering about whether or not she should actually go over to K-lee’s place. Sure she was curious about the whole magic thing and if she was going to have to be a supernatural then she was going to make sure to do it right, but there was still the reluctance. Reluctance that she blamed on her adopted parents and the views that they had instilled in her. Or tried instilling. The longer she spent away from them the more she realized that those views were not hers. She was nothing like them. They had forced her into church and religion even when she was physically ill because of it... really now. She liked Delta better and that woman had gone and helped with the turning her life upside down thing. I still like the Symes better than Nicodemus, that's for sure. Sighing, Bianca realized that she was going to go over to Cherryblossom whether she fully accepted it or not. Slipping her shoes back on she grabbed her keys and headed down to her car.
She had never been to Cherryblossom before and she found herself blinking at the far-more luxurious complex as she made her way to the door K-lee had told her to go to. Ringing the doorbell she crossed her arms over her chest and waited. Five minutes. She would wait a maximum of five minutes and then she was going to go home and forget this nonsense had ever happened.
'I still don't think it's a good idea.' "How many times do I have to tell you that I don't care what you think?" Because K-lee didn't give a single damn whether or not that bobcat kitten that refused to go away approved of her or not. She hadn't asked for him to jump in front of her car or proclaim himself her familiar. Since she hadn't asked she didn't care. Just so long as Malo didn't die all was well. If he kicked it then there'd be problems but until that happened K-lee didn't see why she should concern herself with his opinion. What was he going to do if she didn't listen, scratch her eyes out? Then he'd be saddled with a blind human. A bitter blind human. "Besides, I want to know what she is. And don't carry on with the death thing again because she's not dead and you know vampires don't smell like that." K-lee didn't get curious about things all that often, but when she did the answer needed to come about. Sooner rather than later. Bianca was a mystery because she was something but she didn't know what. And neither did Malo. Some help he was - there was the doorbell. Going to answer it she did her best to not laugh at the ensemble Bianca was in. Not everyone could have a sense of style past 'dark'. Were those skull earrings? Quaint. "Come on in then, let's get this started." K-lee still wasn't happy about the idea of sharing her spells, but since Bianca wasn't a witch it wasn't like she'd be able to even try anything that wasn't extremely basic. Like what K-lee had been doing when she was just a kid. Or not even that since she was a born witch with demonic blood. 'She smells demonic too.' Oh. "So, you going to tell me what you are or still stuck on waiting until I've like, shown you a spell or two?"
Bianca was at minute two when the door opened and K-lee appeared. Looking all pretty and like a model, but with a look in her eyes that would have probably made most people take a step back. Bianca? Was not so much with being afraid of looks so she stepped in and glanced around. Not that bad of a place. Definitely had hers beat for space and general luxury. Though seriously, what does one person need all of this for? She could not imagine what she would do if she had so much space for just an entry way and then a living room. Far as she could tell the only one living here was K-lee and that wild-looking kitten. Familiar. Bianca's fingers twitched slightly at the sight before she reminded herself that she was here to learn a few spells of her own. Did that mean she would end up with something like that that could talk even though it had no right to? Hope not. "I told you that I'll tell you what I am after you show me a few things. I'm not changing my mind just because I'm here." Then she might as well have just gone and told K-lee in the park the other night. At the current moment in time she had absolutely no reason to trust K-lee and until she had one - which she doubted would happen since the other woman was a witch and those were untrustworthy by virtue of what they were - she would give up no knowledge without having received some first. "Quicker we get to it, the quicker you find out and the quicker I get to go home."
There wasn’t any beating around the bush with this girl, was there? K-lee supposed she could appreciate that since she was the same way. ’I still don’t like her.’ Malo’s little stub of a tail was trying it’s hardest to lash, but it just didn’t work. K-lee wasn’t going to laugh at him for it. She wasn’t. Much. She ignored the thoughts he directed her way about how once she thought it she might as well do it when it came to him. She’d do what she wanted without the approval of a fluffball. “Don’t be too hasty, you can’t just pick these things up.” Magic wasn’t like that. TV shows made it seem otherwise sometimes but people who believed that needed to go and get their heads checked out. Or just try it and see how much they liked smelling like rotten eggs or having boils all over their face for their failed efforts. “But come on, I’ve got something for you.” Spellbooks were something for the Dark Ages, K-lee kept track of her spells on her computer. Backed up on a flashdrive just in case. She’d gone and printed out the first spell she remembered learning from her aunt when she was a kid. The only ingredient was the spellcaster’s blood. Oh, right, and they had to be demonic or it just wouldn’t work since it was a curse. A silly curse, but still. K-lee liked using it from time to time even if it required pricking her finger. It’d be a good way to get Bianca to back off. Grinning, she held the piece of paper out and motioned at the nearby counter where a box of pins was gleaming. “Want to have at it?”
Accepting the paper, Bianca’s eyes widened and then narrowed within seconds once she realized what this spell was. Blood magic. She did not want to learn blood magic. That would involve her blood and just the sight of it was usually enough to make her weak in the knees, at the best. Hell the last time she had gone and gotten cut she had fainted dead away on the floor. Damn doll. Had he not said that she was interested in black magic? Black and blood were not the same thing so far as she was aware; the name said that clear as anything else could hope to. “Blood magic,” Bianca said in a blank tone of voice, extending the page back towards K-lee. “I want black magic. I don’t shed my blood willingly.” Actually, it was pretty hard to imagine that, of all people, a model would go around cutting herself. Bianca saw no visible scars that seemed to be caused by K-lee’s own hand. She did have to admit that she was a slight intrigued by the spell on the page, though, it looked like it would be just irritating enough to get someone to go away. She just did not want to cut herself for it.
K-lee just grinned. She didn’t remember having said what sort of magic it was that she was going to show the girl. For all Bianca could know she was nothing more than a blood witch who’d gone and cut her hand the other night. “Sorry girl, that’s what I have ready and that’s what you get. It’s not like it’s going to drain you dry or anything. Little drop, that’s it. Here.” Slipping past her, K-lee picked out one of the pins and pricked her finger. She had to bite back a hiss against the slight bit of pain, having always been terrible with it, but she managed. A little drop of ruby welled up against her dark skin and she rubbed it between her finger and thumb until both fingers were lightly coated. Without a warning she reached out and placed those bloodied fingers to Bianca’s bare arm, the simple words slipping out like second nature. And with how little blood she’d used it wouldn’t even last all that long. But while it did Bianca’s arm would feel like she was getting stung by dozens of invisible ants. K-lee’d gotten in trouble god knew how many times for using that on her brother before he was big enough to fight back. Playing fair hadn’t ever been in her vocabulary, not even when family was involved. It was more like she didn’t curse her parents because they’d earned her fear and respect. Or her mother had. Her father could be sort of a wuss.
It was not that blood bothered her so much as her blood did. See, K-lee’s blood was a perfectly normal shade of red and - “Hey!” Bianca protested, yanking her arm back before pulling a face at the blood that was smeared on it. “What the hell do you - ow. Ow!” Scrubbing at her arms she managed to get the blood off, but the stinging and biting continued for another few minutes. Rubbing at her arm after it stopped she was a little surprised to find that there were no marks to show where the pain had been coming from. Just little streaks of drying blood. Everyone’s blood looks black when it dries. “What’d you do that for?”
There it was, a completely normal reaction. K-lee’d been hoping for that. And she really just liked the knowledge that she’d gone and caused someone a bit of pain. It was always nice to work that into one’s schedule. “Don’t be such a baby,” K-lee drawled as she ran her fingers under some water to get the blood off. “I was just showing you what the spell did. If you can do it right. It’s just a little prick.” She picked up a new pin and held it out. “Come on, Bianca, don’t be afraid of a little needle. You don’t do this you’re not learning anything. That’s what you came here for after all.” K-lee could’ve gone with black magic, it was her real speciality, but she just didn’t want to. Blood magic could give an instant result and she was pretty sure that was what Bianca was after. Even if K-lee’d chosen a curse and that couldn’t be done unless she was demonic.
Ugh. Bianca saw no reason why she should have even come here. Here she had thought that maybe there was something that would be worth her time, but it turned out that it was all just insanity. This woman wanted her to use her blood. That was the stuff that was supposed to stay well inside of her skin. But... she isn’t expecting it. I don’t have to look. I don’t. She could prick herself and let it well up without looking at it. Let K-lee see why encouraging her to bleed was not a good idea. Bianca had yet to have come across someone who could see her bleeding without freaking out. “Fine,” she grated, swiping the pin and poking it into her finger. A bit of bile rose in her throat as she felt something trickle out, and she mimicked K-lee’s actions of rubbing her fingers together. Knowing that she was bleeding was practically as bad as seeing it. Closing her eyes against the feeling of nausea, she picked up the piece of paper and repeated the words before touching K-lee. And the second she had she had shoved past the taller woman to the sink, flicking the water on to stick her hand underneath, not bothering to look as she tore off a paper towel and wrapped it around her finger.
’Her blood’s black.’ Her blood was black. Her blood was black. K-lee stared in a mix of fascination and almost-horror as Bianca rubbed her blood off on her. The spell hadn’t worked that well, there was only a few little twinges, but she shouldn’t have been able to do even that unless she was... well of course she was. Look at her blood! No normal human could have blood like that. ’I told you that she smells like death.’ Bringing her hand up, K-lee studied the blood that Bianca had rubbed off. Looked normal in every way except for that part where it was black. And that couldn’t be normal. “So you know that your blood’s black, right?” K-lee asked, half-distracted as she poked at it. What sort of creature had black blood? ’I have no idea.’ Her aunt hadn’t ever said anything about this. Or her mom. “And that was actually better than it should’ve been. Only demonic’s can curse straight off first level... so you’ve got demon in you. That why you’ve got black blood?”
“Really? I thought it was as white as new-fallen snow,” Bianca snapped, neck twitching slightly at the acknowledgment of what color her blood was. Yes, she was fully aware of how abnormal her blood was and did not particularly appreciate having it brought up. Nor that whole demon-blood thing again. First with Dagmar, then again with whoever and now with K-lee. Did she just have a habit of coming across people who were obsessed with it? Or drawn to them because we’re similar... except her blood isn’t black. “I don’t think that’s why, no.” Her voice was tight. Talking about this was just hard for her. She was more used to insulting witches than chatting with them about spells and why her blood was black. “It’s because of what I am. A necromancer.” There, she had said it. Her skin was tingling and it felt like the room was just a little bit smaller, but she had still said it. Because, like it or not, K-lee had given her a spell. One that she had apparently actually managed to make work. So she could do magic. But this idea of using her blood was making her feel nauseous all over again. “Now I’ve told you, now you know, do you only know blood magic? I’d rather have a black magic spell.”
“Again with the snippy.” Almost seemed to be a thing with this girl. ’I still don’t know what she is.’ K-lee had heard of necromancers. They were supposed to be able to to raise the dead and mess around with vampires or something. Oh, and they had black blood. And black eyes? Except Bianca’s eyes weren’t black. They were a rather normal shade of brown. “Blood magic isn’t really my thing, actually, I way prefer black and blood gives quicker results and fewer backlashes. Figured you’d get more out of it. Had no idea that you weren’t that fond of your blood.” Not that K-lee blamed her. If her blood had been that color then she might have been a little touchy about shedding it too. “But I didn’t go looking for a low-level one since I just meant to show you that and give you those.” She nodded at the table she had picked the paper up from, a few more having been piled on top. “A few spells for you to try on your own. Because I’m really not a teacher. Meant that. But if you want to come over again and try a few out I’m not against it. Haven’t really messed around with another witch before.”
“I’m not a witch,” Bianca replied instantly, somehow managing to sneer even though she had just tried a spell and had moved to collect the pages. Four spells, all involving her own blood and seeming very simple. “I guess I should say thank you.” Manners that had been instilled in her were showing through despite a year of trying to cast them off. She meant it more than she usually did though. If she wanted to learn magic, and she sort of did just so that she could defend herself - and really, because it could do interesting things - then she had to take steps. This had been a good first one in that direction. Plus if I'm going to be supernatural then I might as well go all out with it. That way when her family found out and cut her off she would be able to lay a curse down on them that would extend through generations. If that was possible. She was going to have to find out if that was possible. Folding the papers up several times she stuck them into her back pocket. Later she would look through them. When she was alone in her apartment and no one else could see. Including an actual witch.
K-lee just rolled her eyes. Bianca could say what she wanted but the fact was that she had the papers, had tried a spell and it looked like she was going to try another. Probably in her blood. "Yeah you go do that, sweetheart, I've got better things to do than baby-sit a fledgling witch." Grinning she flipped her fingers at Bianca and dropped onto her couch, allowing Malo to hop up on her lap. 'Still don't like her.' "Let yourself out." And with that she picked up the remote and flipped on the TV. Later, after the girl was gone, she might try a spell of her own. It had been awhile and those little pinpricks she had caused Bianca were very nearly inspiring.
Fingers tightening into fists, Bianca decided it was better to say nothing. She had what she wanted - sort of - and she was no witch. Just someone who was a little interested in what she could learn to do for very specific reasons. Not for the magic or any of that drivel, just for the end results. Being dismissed was annoying, yeah, but there was nothing she could do about it. Keeping the paper towel wrapped around her finger, it would not be coming off until after she was 100% certain that there was no blood left leaking out, Bianca left. And made sure to slam the door behind her.
