I got soul, but I'm not a soldier
Who: Grant Matthews and Delta Hall
Where: Anywhere But Here
When: Evening
Things were as back to normal as they were going to get, and that meant Grant was back to work, too. Bartending wasn't exactly his favorite job in the world, but having spent the last couple days in Ann Arbor with his parents, he was eager to get back to regular life. Not that he didn't love his parents, or that he didn't know they were all safe there, but still. It didn't help that he'd brought Raya there too on Sunday and every time his mother caught his eye, Grant saw The Look there. The one that said Donna knew more about what was going on than Grant himself did, and telling her that things between him and Raya were "complicated" wasn't going to cut it forever. Donna was a former police officer, she knew bullshit when she heard it, and she'd always been good at reading Grant.
He just didn't want to get his hopes up with Raya if it turned out she was going to leave him again. People always left, as far as Grant was concerned.
And, to top it off, the demons had the Landows calling him every five seconds. Fuck that, Grant was still disinclined to talk to his in-laws, especially when they were implying - again - that he couldn't keep his son safe from demons. Just like they thought he'd hurt Robbie during the full moon. If Robbie hadn't been listening in, then Grant would have picked a fight and the lawyers would have been on his doorstep the next morning to take his son away. Grant refused to let that happen.
All things considered, going back to work, somewhere where he could hopefully take his mind off things for a while, was a good thing. Serving booze might not be his exact cup of tea, but hey, whatever worked. He was wiping down the counter when he saw someone new come in, and he flashed her a hint of a smile. "What can I get you?"
