There was an interesting little variety of emotions that Ulysses could sort of make out coming from the now-blonde girl. It wasn't concrete, just little flickers, but it was enough to let him know that she wasn't at ease. Probably because he'd seen her and she wasn't supposed to be seen. Because he was scanning through the list of supernaturals that were known and he wasn't coming up with one that fit the description of this particular girl. No, not at all. Now there were mermaids but they didn't have legs in the water. They had tails. And when they looked human they couldn't talk as she was very clearly doing right now. So. She was something that hadn't been revealed to the public. A race that was keeping itself secret for whatever reason. Perhaps because they were extremely rare. Or maybe it had something to do with them being some sort of delicate and unable to share their race. Ulysses didn't particularly care unless it was the extremely rare thing. Then he cared. Then he cared a lot.
"Last time I checked there aren't any turtles in this area that are turquoise," Ulysses pointed out with an amused smile as he sat down on the edge of the pond, untying his shoes and sliding his socks off so that he could slip his feet into the cool water. How refreshing. That little tactic to try and get his mind off of what she really was wasn't doing the trick though. She needed more practice with the art of deception. "And no, I was actually thinking about angels." Why not share? Wasn't like telling someone that he had angels on the brain was going to spread the message that he was interested in them or anything. Besides, it wasn't like they knew who he was. He was just a collector. Stretching his hand out, Ulysses concentrated oh the stick that he had thrown in earlier, causing it to come spinning back up out of the water and into his hand. "About where they might be. What they really look like. That sort of thing. But it seems so unimportant now that I've found this pond and its most unusual little occupant. Do your people have names?"
