I don’t believe in fate, but the bottom line it’s time to pay Who: Lex and several NPCs Where: London, England When: Fall of 1925 Warning: It’s Lex
They were late. If there was one thing any blood hunter had to know about dealing with a Shade, it was never bed late. It had been precisely eleven minutes since Big Ben struck ten o’clock and Lex was pacing back and forth in the alleyway like a mad man. Though he would never admit it, the vampire was nervous about his first assignment alone. Every single one that had been handed to him was also handed to Garrick as well. The two mirrored each others thoughts, actions, and expertise. One did not go without the other and everyone knew that the job would get done if they were sent together. Though this time, it was only Lex that showed up for the initial rendezvous with the Parliament member. No Garrick.
“It’s a test, Lexington,” he recalled his sire mentioning to him before he left that night, “to make sure you’re ready.”
Ready for what? It wasn’t like Lex had no bloody clue how to do his job. He did it quite well, actually. Garrick knew that. They the elders want to see Lex do this by himself? He wasn’t sure and now wasn’t exactly the opportune time to be asking question. Well, aside from where the hell was this blood hunter. That he liked to know. Lex didn’t have the time or patience to track down someone in the city who was a werecat of some sort. He was going to need those boosted senses for this evening to be on top of his game and time was crucial at this point.
With a force sigh, Lex came to a stop while pulling out the small envelope from the inner folds of his jacket. Unfolding it in his gloved hands, he read over the written task for the hundredth time. A woman by the name of Irene Hayes, married to the prominent Parliament member by the name of Hayes, was wanted dead. Apparently the wench had been sleeping around with other politicians and was considered a threat not just to Hayes’ marriage, but also to the constant war waged with politicians. Funny how women still couldn’t help themselves from causing trouble to this day. Lex scoffed gently before folding the letter back up and returning it to the envelope, and then inside his jacket. Killing off an adulterous whore was something Lex would be proud to do. Perhaps it would send a message to all the other ladies out there to keep their knickers on and mind their manners. They had no place in the world of power.
The sound of footsteps was what initially threw Lex off, spinning on his heels quietly before slipping into the shadows. Paranoid as ever. He couldn’t help it. After observing the two figures that came down the alley, Lex let out a sigh of relief. Looked like the blood hunter finally found his way here with the goods in tow. The lady beside him was bound at the wrists and gagged with what looked like tape over her mouth. “Subtle, aren’t we?” Lex murmured to himself while watching them draw in closer. The hunter didn’t look all that remarkable, someone that Lex would forget come tomorrow. The man appeared in his late 40s, definitely not of good physical condition, and his attire was worn and out of style. At least he got the job done.
“Where is that boyo...” The hunter grumbled to himself while clutching onto the woman tighter. Her screams were silenced by her gag, but that didn’t stop the tears from flowing down her cheeks. “Oi! Where are ye, Shade?! I gotcha midnight snack right ‘ere.” A sadistic snicker left the blood hunter while stroking the girl’s check. She barely looked like she was 18. Another pause of silence before the hunter bellowed once more. “OI, PRICK! WHERE-”
Before he could finish that sentence, Lex had stepped out from the shadows, snatched the girl out of his grip and slammed her up against the wall. Hearing another muffled cry from her just brought a smile to Lex’s lips. His actions, however, left the blood hunter bumbling like an idiot by himself, trying to figure out how the vampire swiped his prey away that quickly. Where the hell was he the whole time?! Lex didn’t concern himself with the hunter and instead focused his blue eyes on the crying girl. He shushed her gently, his body crushing her up against the wall while he ripped the tape off her mouth. A sharp shriek left her lips for all of two seconds before Lex clamped his hand firmly over her mouth.
“There there... no need to cry.” His voice was soft and gentle, something he taught himself to get into the habit of doing when dealing with his prey. Bumping his nose into the side of her face, the girl winced with disgust as he took in her scent. Definitely a werecat of some type. He didn’t care what type, just as long as it was a feline. A smirk emerged onto his lips with approval as he licked lightly at her neck. “I promise it’ll be over before you know it.”
His words weren’t enough to calm down the kitty, feeling her shake against his body while tears kept streaming down her cheeks. It looked like those binds on her wrists were also magically enhanced to prevent her from shifting. He’d give the hunter props for that, seeing Lex didn’t want to be mauled to death the second his fangs pierced her skin. Knowing that he was safe, he brought his eyes up to the girl’s and watched the fear swell up in them. Good, let her be afraid. She had no reason to be hopeful. No one was going to save her now. The only certain thing in her life was that it would end shortly.
Lex pressed his lips against her forehead, moaning slightly as he relished the sensation of her warm skin against his cool mouth. His kisses trailed over her face, returning once more to her neck and began lapping at a certain tender spot. The blood was surging through her veins, perhaps a response to the anxiety and fear she was feeling. That just made it taste that much better. Another smile, another chuckle, and then his fangs found home deep in her neck. The girl struggled at first, crying out in agony into Lex’s hand, but he kept the girl still against the wall. With the blood splashing against her tongue, he greedily drank from her, instantly feeling the effects. He wanted more - he always did. So as he continued to gulp down mouthful after mouthful of blood, he felt the girl go from flailing against him to gradually growing limp in his arms. Her breaths shortened, grew lighter, as did he heartbeat. By the time Lex took the last few sweet gulp of blood, she was completely still and lifeless.
Finally bringing his head back, Lex licked his lips clean and smiled. He felt incredible. That enhance sense of grace and balance along with agility was just what he needed. Stepping away from the girl, she collapsed into his arms, remaining limp. Not caring for the carcass anymore, Lex hurled the body on over to the blood hunter. The second she crashed into the ground, the man flinched and stared at her for a second before looking up at Lex. “Whaddya expect me t’ do with that!?”
“Bloody hell if I know,” Lex replied smoothly, taking out his wallet to pluck out a handful of pounds before handing the banknotes over to the old chap. “You’re the blood hunter, not me.”
“Disposing of corpses isn’t in me job description, boyo!”
The cold look in Lex’s eyes told the man that he honestly didn’t give a crap. He was paying him good money - far better money than what he got in a month’s worth of pay - and Lex expected the job to be done. He didn’t halfass this crap, and thus he expected his contacts to have the same mindset. The silence shifted between the two of them, the blood hunter obviously more unsettled than the vampire was, then proceeded to move forward to retrieve his payment.
Before his grubby hands could touch the freshly printed pounds, Lex flicked his hand away and clucked hi tongue in the man’s direction. “I believe you still have one more promise on your end of the bargain to uphold, am I right?”
And he did. Lex hadn’t forgotten about that. A moment of hesitation passed by the blood hunter before reaching into the depth of his jacket and pulled out a glass bottle filled with dark crimson liquid. Lex knew what it was merely by scent - fire elemental blood. He didn’t dare to track one down on his own, but he still craved for that taste of warmth. Any hunter that could find his a batch and deliver it by bottle was always at Lex’s disposal. The vampire paid a pretty penny for such blood and wasn’t going to cough up all his money until he had a little taste of Spark. With the bottle in reach, Lex swiped it away and instantly popped off the cap. In second, the opening was pressed against Lex’s lips and he downed the entire thing. He didn’t bother to slow down and relish the taste, knowing that the effects that lingered after were far more important. Oh, how he loved to be warm again. Not to mention it would be needed for his night amongst humans.
With a satisfied grin on his face, Lex chucked the bottle back to the hunter along with handing over the pounds. “My regards, mate. Appreciate it.” Lex tipped his hat in the man’s direction before slowly walking away and down the alleyway. The man didn’t respond right away, too busy counting over the pounds to make sure he got his expected amount. He was short a few hundred pounds, which was mostly taken away due to being tardy, but he didn’t know that.
“Oi! What the blood hell is-”
Though by the time he turned around to address Lex, the vampire had already disappeared into the shadows.
~*~*~*~
As the girls in town liked the say, there was a hopping joint in town that night. A certain club in the middle of the city, tucked away in yet another alleyway. From the outside it seemed shady, though inside? Whole different ballpark. It was decadent and lavish, meant for only the rich to enjoy. Jazz music was blaring through the vast room, bouncing off of every wall. This was an establishment for the ladies who believed they were meant to have a good time that night and the men who enjoyed their company. Not a whore house - far from that, actually. Just a typical club with loose women. Something Lex typically wouldn’t complain about if he wasn’t on the job tonight.
He had an alias to go by while here - Windsor Jones. And with that alias, he had a half cracked out life history that could be believable for one night. That’s all it took, anyways. After giving the doorman his name, jacket, and hat, Lex made his way into the club and searched around the area for his woman. Sure, there were plenty of fine young ladies that peaked his interest, but they weren’t a part of the job. Maybe he’d come back later to pick them up after he finished the task at hand, but until then, he had an Irene Hayes to find.
Taking a seat at the bar, he ordered a glass of scotch on the rocks. Not that he was actually going to drink it - he’d like to - but it was best to fit in while he was here. Waiting for his drink, he whipped out a pack of cigarettes and tried to find a match. Wasn’t exactly something he had on him at all times, but he was told the cigarettes would help him fit in. Not so much if he couldn’t light the damn thing.
“Here, baby, lemme get that for ya.”
Before Lex could even say anything, there was a match being held out to him. Blue eyes panned to the side to catch sight of the gorgeous woman who decided to take a seat by him. Short black hair, bright eyes, and lips stained with the perfect shade of red. She was like something out of those Hollywood movies everyone was talking about. Just lovely eye candy. And that sly smile on her lips had him positive that she was no innocent thing either. Letting the silence wash over them, Lex leaned in to properly light his cigarette, then took a deep inhale on it before blowing out smoke.
“There ya go.” Her voice was deep and smooth, something that could only be achieved after years of living. “Can’t imagine what I’d do without a light for my ciggy.”
“Not smoke?” Lex pointed out, not trying to be funny, but it did get her to laugh.
“Well aren’t you the regular ol’ comedian?” She tilted her head to the side with a peculiar look. “New around here, baby?”
“Could say that,” Lex shifted in his seat to face her better, finally able to take in the sight of her short, extravagant black dress. Definitely fit for a lady who was frequenting a place like this. “Unless you’ve seen me before.”
“Can’t say I have, sadly.” She pouted at him before leaning into the bar to catch the bartender’s attention. “Can you get a gal a martini here, big boy?”
Before she could even reach for her pocketbook, Lex had already whipped out the money needed to pay for that drink and placed it on the counter top. “On me.”
To that, she just giggled. “Ya trying to win me over, baby?”
“The way you keep calling me that, you’re making me think I already have.”
Lex gentle smirked in her direction, minding his fangs all the while. In response, he had her roaring up in laughter. Good to see his asinine behavior could win over the ladies.
“You’re funny. I like you!” She wiggled a finger in his direction before grabbing her fresh martini glass. After a sip, she leaned in some more to continue her conversation with Lex. “Might I ask for the gentleman’s name?”
“Windsor.” Seriously, that was just as bad as Lexington. “Windsor Jones.” Lex extended his hand out to her. “And you are...?”
She gave him a shy smile before slipping her delicate hand into his. “Irene Hayes.”
Bingo.
Lex was fortunate to have his target come his way than vice versa. Cut down on a lot of tracking time on his part. He couldn’t recall what they talked about, only that it was mostly about herself and her travels to America and how bored she was with her husband and the political life. Lex even noted that she wasn’t wearing her wedding band that evening. Whenever the question was lobbed over to Lex, it was mostly about what he did for a living and what interested him. His fictional persona was in the business of blacksmithing, mostly shipping and delivering said goods around the world. Granted, he was basing this off of Garrick’s job, but Irene would be dead come morning to even double check his facts. Instead, she ate up every detail he fed her.
It was such a shame that he was going to have to kill her. For someone her age, she had such youth and bite to her. Not that he particularly cared for a woman with power surging straight to her head, but she was a woman with experience that still knew how to be young. Would prove to be adventurous in the bedroom. Probably explained why she was sleeping around so much... even if he knew it was more than just that. A Parliament member wouldn’t have hired a Shade if it was just straight up adultery. There was more to it. It wasn’t going to be that simple.
Though Lex didn’t focus on the complications. He just focused on pumping more and more booze into her system and making sure Irene was having herself a good ol’ time. By the time she had her third drink, her hand had found a permanent home on his thigh while the other hand was busy fingering at the seams in his tailored suit. She was intoxicated alright.
“Do ya like jazz, Mr. Jones?”
“You mean this?” He jerked his head to motion to the live band playing vibrantly.
“Of course, silly!” Even her giggles were intoxicating.
“Not exactly my cup of tea, but-”
“Oh, you’re such a sap. You just haven’t had the right lady to come into your life to introduce ya properly to jazz, that’s all.”
...if you say so.
“Come on, baby. Don’t ya wanna hit up the dance floor for this one number?” The way she batted her eyelashes was all it took for Lex, but the squeeze of her hand into his thigh along with whispering the following was enough to put him into overdrive, “I’ll go easy on ya. Promise.”
Lex was never keen on women taking charge of any situation, but that stare of hers was undeniable. Pausing for a second to build up tension, he only smiled in her direction before extending out a hand. Irene laughed with delight, instantly taking said hand as Lex led her to the dance floor. Dancing was never his think, but one had to blend in when the time called for it. He could do this. Make Irene believe that he had some hidden dance skills underneath all of that. The music was upbeat and the crowd was as lively as can be. His blue eyes locked onto Irene, watching her enjoy herself with a smile on her lips. Lex could see why she had been sleeping around - girl was a hot ticket.
And they didn’t just stay up there for one song. Lex lost track with how many they danced to, perhaps about six by the time their bodies grew close enough to be barely touching. He watched Irene breathe heavily, working up a slight sweat amongst all the dancing. What drove him insane was hearing her heart beat out of control. She had quite the exotic scent and he couldn’t quite place it. What was she? It didn’t matter now. The little sex kitten was burning up and it proved to be the perfect distraction before Lex went in for the kill. Not here, Lex reminded himself. Get her out of here, then strike.
Hands suddenly on her hips, Lex pulled Irene in closer, purring into her ear, “I think we better take this dance of ours elsewhere.”
She just grinned. “I like your thinking, Mr. Jones.”
The two of them were now on the same wave length, both leaving the dance floor and maneuvering through the crowds to finally exit the club once they grabbed their coats. The autumn air greeted both of them with a biting chill, but the warmth that had them burning on the dance floor was still lingering. Lex barely had a chance to throw his jacket on by the time Irene walked over to him with her body pressed up against his. She was beyond buzzed; he could smell it on her. Perfect. “Shall we go back to my place then?”
It was hard to ignore those fingers tracing idle designs upon his chest, causing Lex to veer away from the target and focus on the woman before him. Every act of hers was just dripping with sex and what was wrong with indulging for a moment before going in for the kill? Lex couldn’t help himself, taking the woman and pinning her up against the wall before easing in for a kiss. Nothing gentle by any means. Irene seemed to approve, moaning hard past their locked lips and even brought a hand up to tangle it up in his hair. Good, she was just as hot and bothered.
“I’ll take that as a yes,” Irene snickered when she finally came up for air.
By the time they hit the streets to wave a cab down, both of them had their coats properly on, though Lex couldn’t help but constantly run a hand up and down her back, daring to go lower with each stroke. He could feel Irene shivering, smiling to himself as she squirmed and tried to contain herself. The cab finally came and the two hurried themselves into the back. Irene gave the driver an address to go to, but Lex was too busy running his hands all over her to even give a damn about what she said. Her laughter was intoxicating and her touches drove him just as mad. There was no better way to distract his target.
Lex couldn’t remember how long the cab ride took, too wrapped up in the lovely Irene to even figure out where they were. Where ever they did go as their destination was some ritzy mansion, definitely fit for a member of Parliament. Lex doubted that Mr. Hayes would be home. Besides, this gave Lex a chance to make the whole thing looks like a suicide attempt. Irene, alone in her house, with a slit throat and bloodied dagger in her hand. As they exited the cab, his mind raced with various scenarios and how they could be played out. It would be a quick, one where she wouldn’t even have time to scream. It was better that way - less attention would be drawn to Lex. But for now, that was all on hold as Irene led him inside and left the lights off. Perfect. Complete darkness. It was like she wanted him to have the advantage.
Following her in, the vampire began tugging at her attire, throwing that jacket out of the way and began pulled the straps to her dress down her arms. Lex didn’t have the slightest idea as to where they were going, except that he bumped her into some table within the massive foyer. Lips trailed over her neck, slowly undressing her as Irene arched her back for him and moaned all the while. Lovely progress so far. Lex was enjoying this game, running both his tongue and fingers over her bare flesh, enough to entice some more moans from that gorgeous body of hers.
And then she stopped a she brought her head back, body stiffening with what had to be disgust. Her voice eventually broke the silence and brought an unpleasant knot to Lex’s stomach.
“You.”
Lex wasn’t sure what was going on until he looked up and spotted a mirror hanging above the table. Irene had managed to stare into it while arching back and caught sight of her reflection... without Lex’s.
Fuck.
He was stunned before Irene even lashed out at him, swiping a hand at his face, nails dragging over his skin that caused the vampire to hiss in a breath of air before jumping back. Fun and games were now over and all that was left was a job that now had to be finished before the woman ran out of the house. Except she didn’t run out - she ran deeper inside the mansion. Silly woman, didn’t she know that the shadows were a dangerous place to be in with a Shade nearby? Lex stepped through the shadows instantly, appearing before Irene to grab a hold of her. Within two seconds of clutching onto her wrists, the woman sputtered out a series of words that caused Lex to go flying back and crash into a nearby wall. It took a second for him to put two and two together, and it finally hit him as he stood back onto his feet - he was dealing with a witch.
Irene had made a mad dash up the massive stairs case with Lex hot on her trail. Each time he appeared from the shadows, she flung another offensive spell at him, hoping to paralyze the bastard, though he kept dodging. “My husband sent you, didn’t he?!” Irene reached the top of the stairs, hands glowing with a dark energy that hummed with rage. “He wants me gone so I can stop interfering with his politics. Stop sleeping with all of his enemies. Am I right, vampire?!” She caught sight of Lex down the hallway and flung the spell at him, only to destroy a marble statue that had been placed there as means of decoration.
Lex refused to answer her, lingering behind another statue as he picked up her scent coming closer. He had gone up against supernaturals before, but never a witch. This was a whole new class of messed up that he had to deal with. And he would deal with her. Taking out several throwing knives from inside his boots, he armed himself and whipped out of the corner, daftly throwing the weapons in her direction. Magic whizzed back Lex in and attempt to stop him, but her advances came short as one knife sunk into her shoulder. At last, she was stunned, and Lex unsheathed a dagger from the folds of his pant leg and readied for the kill, only to stop halfway when he realized she was laughing.
“Do you even know what I am, vampire?” Irene grabbed the knife and pulled it out from her body as if it was nothing. Lex stared with confusion as she began using the blood to work her magic. “My blood was meant to use dark magic. All of it is at my disposal.” And as she began mixing both black and blood magic together to create a more powerful spell, Lex found himself taking steps backwards. “And I will kill you.”
The spell was large enough to fill up then entire hallway once she released it, giving Lex no option but to hide within one of the nearby rooms. This was not suppose to happen. I should have killed her back in the alleyway when I had the chance. The room he had ducked into appeared to be a vast library of sorts, darting through the shadows for a high point before Irene came in and flicked the lights on. “Why don’t you come down and play, baby?” She eyed the vampire balancing on the tops of the bookshelves, throwing spell after spell at him. Books were torn into shreds while shelves were knocked over and crashed into the floor. The entire room was thrown askew in just a matter of minutes. Spells and blades were exchanged back and forth. Lex was far too fast for Irene to nail and even if he did nick her with a blade, she merely used to blood to amplify her spells. He had to go in for the kill and end it, but it was easier said than done when there were no shadows to jump through and her spells were just as fast as he was.
Jumping off of the final bookcase, Lex found himself clutching onto the extravagant chandelier that hung above. It swung from side to side for a moment, giving Lex some time to try and figure out his next move. Before he could even jump from it, one of Irene’s dark spells crashed into his body and caused him to come falling to the ground. The impact was just as painful as the spell and he was certain several bones snapped in the process. And while he wanted to jump to his feet to slit the bitch’s throat, he couldn’t move. What is this!? Irene cackled at his attempts, thoroughly pleased with her paralyzing spell taking effect. And with a wave of her hand, she cast another spell that cut the chandelier from its ties, letting the structure come crashing into Lex. Thankfully the sound of crystals and glass shattering masked the screams that were squeezed out of his body. Several parts had impaled him to the ground, holding him firmly where he was.
Blue eyes searched for Irene in the darkness. Even if he wanted to blink through the shadows, he couldn’t. That damn spell kept him where he was. “You’re such a pathetic creature,” she purred while lashing another spell at him, this one sending jolts of pain through his body as she continued. “Did you really think you stood a chance? You vampires think you’re all high and mighty, but you’re not.”
Struggling to talk through the pain, Lex clenched his jaw and hissed in Irene’s direction, “You can’t kill me.”
“I can’t?” She fluttered her eyes, laughing with much amusement. “You’re just as naive as you are pathetic. You think I haven’t killed anyone before, hmm?” In all honesty, he didn’t think so from just looking at her, but apparently he was wrong. “You know what I usually do with men I seduce? I kill them off so I can use their blood for magic and strengthen my powers even more. That’s why my husband truly wants me dead. He knows I will eventually. Then I’ll just marry another politician and do it all over again.” She gave him a smirk that even made Lex flinch. “I’m a far more experienced killer than you, vampire, and to think that you’re possibly older than me.” Irene clicked her tongue at Lex, enjoying the sight of him struggling through all the odds that were against him.
The sound of the door creaking open did throw Irene off, as did the little voices that followed. “Mommy?” Lex could see them perfectly in the darkness - two small children, no older than four-years-old in the doorway. They donned their nightgowns, rubbing their sleepy eyes while peering in with confusion. Irene softened for a moment while eyeing her children, giving them a welcoming smile.
“Did I wake you up, darlings? Oh, come here... Mommy is sorry.”
The two girls stood there for a moment, one of them starting to walk in until the other yanked her back. No, this wasn’t right. Something bad was going on here and they could potentially be in danger. Though when her daughters didn’t heed her words, Irene merely shaped another spell before them, pulling the girls in against their own will. Lex watched as she clutched one of the girls by the throat and pinned her to the ground, grabbing a shard of glass from the floor and proceeded to slice the child’s throat open. She ignored her cries, her pleas for mercy, only to have them be silenced after a brief moment. The other girl tried to scramble away, though she was just pulled back in to receive the same fate as her sister. And with both of her children dead on the floor, blood pooling up gradually around her, Irene dropped the glass shard and smirked.
Lex couldn’t even begin to describe the magic that she was working from the blood of her dead girls. Something vast and unthinkable, mixed with the finest black magic for optimum results. What exactly those results were didn’t even blip on Lex’s radar. All he knew was that he couldn’t move and that he was more or less boned.
And once Irene brought the spell in to swallow Lex up, he screamed. The sheer pain that ripped through his body was unreal. He felt bones crush and skin burn. It was as if she was taking a million whips of fire to his body and each crack made him roar with anguish. She stood there and watched him howl as his body failed him, enjoying this slow form of death. How long would it take for a vampire to die strictly from pain overload? As quick as his body as healing itself, she was there to undo the job. An eternal act of pain. It would never stop... that is, until Lex stopped screaming. But he had no intentions of doing that. He had felt pain before, but this? This was unbearable. Each jolt just forced him to cry out into the darkness, watching his own blood flow out and join her daughters’. And all Irene did was laugh.
If Garrick was here... no, he wasn’t. As much as Lex wanted help right now, he was given this task for a reason. He wasn’t going to take death for an answer. He would live through this somehow and prove he could take a solo job. This bitch would regret putting him through this, regret laughing in his face, mocking him. Lex just stared at her with fury in his eyes in between each scream, knowing that he would win this battle. He wouldn’t let any woman have her way.
And then he felt it - his body twitch. Part of him was certain it was due to the spell that was overwhelming him, but when he tried to move a limb on his own, he realized he was no able to. That initial spell that rendered him useless was now gone. There was hope. Irene paid no attention to his squirming, dismissing it as a result from the torture she was inflicting to him, but her eyes widened as he roared out loud. This time it wasn’t due to the pain - it was due to the sheer amount of rage that was boil up inside of him while he struggled to get up.
By the time she realized what he was doing, it was too late. Lex ran on nothing but adrenaline as he blinked out from underneath the broken chandelier and came face to face with Irene, slamming a fist into her face. That brought an end to her ongoing spell. Staggering back, it was now Irene’s turn to cry out in pain, clutching her face as blood oozed down her body. Before she could even try to counterattack, Lex was there to jab a knife into her stomach, charging her out of the room, out into the hallway, and crashing over the banister. It didn’t matter to Lex if they fell from the second floor to the ground floor, just as long as the impact killed her. The fall was nothing in comparison to what he just went through.
Sitting on top of her, Lex watched blood spill out from her cracked skull, the lifeless expression on her face enough to tell him the deed was done. His body still ached, bones still trying to mend back together and flesh slowly reforming. He clawed at his body, not liking the sensation that lingered in him and eventually tore off his shirt to reveal his bare form. It was then that he looked over his body and realized his right side wasn’t healing. It was completely covered with tiny marks. Millions of them, as if her whips of fire left them there permanently. They smoldered, as if the fire was still lingering. He could feel it there. He couldn’t even bring himself to touch the mark, knowing it brought more pain to him. Perhaps the mark would vanish come morning... or perhaps it would stay as an eternal reminder of what happened here tonight.
It took some time before Lex finally stood on his feet. The act itself was painful, forcing him to use every ounce of energy not to pass out right now. He needed to leave the mansion, get out onto the streets, and get back to his sire. He would know what to do. Probably hunt down a live meal for Lex before forcing him to rest for several days in a coffin. That sounded good right now. He focused on that while limping on out of the household. The deed was done now. He killed the bitch.
