World is too small to keep our paths from crossing
Who: Darcie and Madeleine
Where: North Chisholm Rd
When: Late morning
Rodger had been absolutely impossible the past few days. Darcie knew that he got that way around the full moon, nothing she said or did could convince him that she wasn't going to do anything, but that had already happened for the month. Why he seemed so insistent on continuing to keep her inside of the house she didn't understand at all. Now when it had been storming she had more than understood. That'd been her choice. As much of a choice as she ever really made these days. Storms meant lightning, wind and rain. Rain didn't bother her but all of that wind, oh, a hand went to her throat on habit just to make sure that Air wasn't clutching at it in an attempt to kill her yet again. He did that so often since the change. Zaviar had been surprised by how violently she had reacted to the change, even if he hadn't wanted to do it, and Darcie had problems when it came to remembering that span of time. Or what exactly had happened since then and the order it'd happened in. What she usually remember was Zaviar's face, various things from the hospital, changing and that Air was out to get her. Oh, and that Rodger had taken her from the hospital and made sure that she didn't leave the house without the proper attire on. Shoes. She'd remembered her shoes without him needing to say anything at all this morning. Even though there was no one around to see Darcie still grinned and reminded herself that she'd done a good job. Yes Rodger had been the one to put her in a t-shirt instead of the hoodie she'd originally picked out because it was too sunny and hot for that but shoes were a step in the right direction.
Even if it seemed that she'd switched her ability to pick out a proper shirt for shoes.
"Zaviar," Darcie reminded herself as her fingers traced over the design on the mail box she'd stopped near. It wasn't just smooth metal like all the others, it had something painted on it. Oh, flowers. That was nice. Leaning down she let her mouth open so that she could taste the air around it. Immediately she recoiled with a look of disgust on her face as she stuck her tongue out and rubbed at it with the back of her hand to get the taste and scent off. Normality was the worst thing to get off anything and she turned a narrow-eyed, accusing glare on the house at the end of the drive. How dare they live within a hundred yards of Zaviar when they were that normal? There wasn't a drop of supernatural in the air around this thing. Disgusting. Sneering, Darcie reached out with both of her hands to crush the offensive box with it's flowers. There, now it was a crumpled mess of metal atop a wooden pole and it was just as disgusting as the people who touched it. With a satisfied nod, Darcie turned and continued on her way. For some reason Zaviar hadn't come to see her for nearly three weeks - Rodger claimed it was three weeks, but Darcie sometimes felt like it'd only been a few days or that it'd been years - and even though he'd called and texted it wasn't the same. And she knew where he lived. Sort of. Mostly she knew the road and from there she could find his scent/taste and it'd be fine. Rodger had wanted to come but after she broke that silly photo of them at the beach from before over his head he'd decided to just let her go. Part of her suspected he'd follow at a distance, or call Zaviar, but she didn't actually care so it didn't matter.
What mattered was that she'd found the right house. Stopping by his mailbox she repeated what she'd done at the other, only now it smelled right. Mostly of Zaviar but also with that hint of death that she knew meant Antonin. She was used to both though Antonin's bothered her a little more because there wasn't really anything natural about it. Rolling her shoulders back, Darcie pushed back a loose piece of hair and nibbled on her lip while she tried to figure out if anyone was inside the house. Because if they weren't then it wasn't actually a house, just an empty building full of too much air and she couldn't go inside. Not alone. Maybe Rodger should have come after all, he could've gone in first and made sure the air wasn't vicious inside today. Her arms came up to cross over her chest and squeeze. Someone needed to pass a window or open a door so she could know. The fact that she could've called and asked didn't occur to her even though her mobile was tucked into her back pocket since Rodger had put it there as she was leaving their place.
