Spin-off talk!
Hey everyone. So as a follow-up to the post asking if the spin-off is still on, we figured we’d give you guys a bigger update to know what we’ve been up to. :) Since our last request for input, we’ve done a bit of brainstorming and looked into what everyone said. One of our biggest things to work with in the premise was a request by the Bellum Letale mods to put the spin-off game in a separate universe from where Bellum Letale existed - for plot reason to do with Pax Letale. We have a premise we are semi-satisfied with that's not fully fleshed out yet but we do have some basics down.
Characters who lived in Bellum (or could potentially have fables) can be brought together once more because of the effects of a transportation device. This device, TD for now, has a habit of malfunctioning as it grabs people at various times to join its passengers. Glitches cause it to hit separate worlds, where reality falls along the lines of fiction and resembles familiar novels. The TD and it’s passengers will remain stuck in said world for a set period of time that will seem more random to the characters then the muns. >_> The TD will not only be their vehicle of transport but also work as a second home - not unlike certain trains, planes, caravans, or ships - as characters hope to return to ‘reality.’
Abilities and transformations will occur as they had in Bellum - with one exception. As characters travel to these fictional worlds, it’ll be found that two of each person can’t exist - for example, if we went to the world of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Vlad wouldn’t be there, but Dracula would. This same Dracula would also have all of his memories from his time in Bellum Letale. Changing the events of the novel (or time) can and will be possible - though there will be certain breaks for regular CR and recovery in between. While in these ‘fictional worlds’, characters will be able to communicate with one another through the use of handheld devices. These will have text, voice, and ‘quick-log’ options and will be placed in the main comm. Third-person style logs will go in the log comm, as per usual.
Keeping our players in mind, we’d like to hear any feedback or input people have. We’d still like to know people’s thoughts on whether a Group PSL is preferred over a game or if progression is preferred. In that same vein, editing/revising applications to fit with recent changes (for example: Luther’s adventures in the building might be added to his history and his personality might be updated to account for his breakdown) is something we’d also like to know people’s opinions on. Premades being updated (the starter ones you came to Bellum Letale with) is also something to consider as many characters have undergone changes and will probably have been up to shenanigans in between Bellum’s closing and Vectura’s start. xD
We’d also be open to any feedback or opinions in general on the game set up, rules, application process, communication system, and so on. We’re looking to create a game that will be fun for everyone, though keep in mind that we can’t please everybody. Letting us know what does or doesn’t work for you - either about what’s listed here or what you’ve encountered in your past RP endeavors - would be great.
