Discoveries

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Who: Hermione & Neville
When: First Year
What: A History of Magic Project.

Neville pushed yet another old dusty newspaper to one side, and sneezed. "This is so boring," he complained, not for the first time. "I may actually have fallen asleep and be dreaming you."

It was a History of Magic project about the Rise and Fall of Grindelwald and Voldemort (student's choice). Neville counted himself lucky they weren't looking through newspapers from about a hundred years earlier, but still. Professor Binns managed to find a way to make even a topic like Voldemort as dull as as a blunt quill. At least it was an unexpected break from Goblin Rebellions.

First Meetings

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Who: Harry, Neville, Hermione
Where: Hogwarts Express
When: September 1, 1991
Rating: PG

By the time the Hogwarts Express left Platform 9 and 3/4, Neville was still bumbling around between the carriages, trying to find a seat. No one seemed to want him to sit with them. There was a wriggling from inside his jacket pocket, and he almost let his trunk fall. "Stoppit, Trevor!" he pleaded. There were only a few more carriages to go before he fell off the edge of the train.

When reached out for the door of the next carriage, someone opened it from the other side before he could get to it. It was a slim, familiar-looking blonde boy about his height, with a dark sneer pasted across his face. Neville almost fell over himself trying to get out of the way, but the other boy didn't even seem to notice. Neville got the feeling the boy had just had an encounter that hadn't quite gone his way.

Gulping, he pushed the slowly-retracting door all the way open, and shoved his trunk inside ahead of him. There was a small dark-haired boy wearing glasses sitting by himself at the far end. "Er," Neville said, in a slightly high-pitched voice. "Sorry. Er, I mean, excuse me. Can I... um, sit here?"
