For those who were waiting on DNA results: the hair is human and of a male. He's of European decent with medium-length brown hair, probably something of a chestnut brown. The hair shaft was sturdy, and the bulb almost entirely intact, which suggests it was either pulled out quite roughly by accident, or even plucked out on purpose. The strand did not match any of the male victims, but it is too soon to rule out a next, unknown victim.
Toxicology reported distinct traces of opiates, opium in particular. It's unclear whether he is smoking it recreationally, or to relieve pain. Opiate-based prescriptions can, however, be tracked, should it be the latter.
I'm afraid that is all we could conclude with what evidence we had. His identity remains unknown for the moment, but we hope this is a step in the right direction. But please take caution with this information. It would do us little good if we prematurely announced the species of the culprit and forced all of Vinter to be terrified of every human who surrounds them. There is enough fear as it is.

I find it very rude of this person to kill people on my birthday. He could at least have waited a day or two so that my birthday wouldn't have been "the day two teenagers were killed in a weirdly romantic way". Seriously, that's not how you make presents. Shiny things like jewelry would have been appreciated and not two heartless people :| Next year, I want something better!

From a hair, they know it's a human male from a hair. They cannot get my hair, my hair cannot be studied. I fucking hate science. I mean, not like holy water wouldn't also do the trick but fucking science.
