Who: Haley and Alice
What: Girl talk and advice between best friends
Where: Their dorm
When: Backdated to before this
Rating: G, I suppose
Status: Incomplete and in progress

This was hard. It wasn't every day that the one guy who'd been annoying you for God knows how long kissed you and told you that he liked you. Haley had always felt annoyance toward Lucas bordering on the point of exasperation all of the time. What had been going through her head? 'Why in the world is one of the most popular and good-looking guys in school wasting his time on me when he could have any girl he wants?' That was why she always had tried to direct his attention to a different girl. Any different girl. So long as he wasn't bothering her. But, thinking about it now, it seemed that her annoyance had only been a way to hide underlying feelings for him that she hadn't even understood. That was, she hadn't understood until the kiss on the cheek gone wrong that she and Lucas had shared.

She was confused, which is why she hadn't answered him telling him whether or not she liked him. Talking to someone about it would help. Emily had given her the most straightforward approach. Just try to tell if he was telling the truth and then tell him that she liked him. But being the thinker she was, Haley needed another point of view. Which was exactly why she'd asked Alice to talk. Who better to talk about these sorts of things than your best friend? It was what girls did, after all.

So, just as they'd settled on, Haley was there in the dorm after classes waiting for Alice. Sitting on her bed, she was curled up with a book. Reading did always help to clear her head. And no doubt Alice's advice would be a great deal of help as well.

The bad thing about waiting to tell someone something was the fact that it seemed to be constantly on your mind. Of course, it had it's advantages too. Waiting to tell someone kept it more of a secret. Alice knew sometimes when she found out surprising information she had a tendancy to make some sort of exclaimation. She was just glad to finally be talking about it though.

Alice smiled softly. Lucas was the first guy that came to mind when she thought of Haley, simply by the way he acted around her. Yes, he could be a jerk, and yes, he flirted a bit much, but he seemed genuinely interested in Haley, "When is it not Lucas?"

Alice listened carefully to the details she was suddenly privy to. All the things Haley said about Lucas being popular with the girls was certainly true. She remained quiet, waiting for the true situation to come out. She noted Haley's small gesture. Tucking her hair behind her ear...was she nervous?

Lucas had kissed Haley. Really kissed her. And Haley had responded...so didn't that mean that Haley liked Lucas as well? That seemed to be the most logical explaination, "Well...first of all, what did you tell him after all this? And secondly...how do you feel about it?"
