WHO: James and Frank
WHAT: Amusement! Frank has some serious teasing to do.
WHERE: By the lake.
WHEN: this afternoon
RATING: PG-13 for language and crude conversation ;)
STATUS: in progress

To be perfectly and completely honest, Lily's teasing about kissing boys disturbed James far more than he cared to admit. Sure, he knew fully well that he was being incredibly over-protective and that she was going to do whatever she wanted regardless of how he felt, but that didn't stop him from wanting desperately for her to stop growing up. It was hard to think of her as more than his baby sister. He didn't like having to think of her growing up and dating all of the idiots running around.

James knew exactly what he'd been up to himself lately, the memories he had with Emily from the Halloween Ball (more specifically, after they'd been removed from the ball due to inappropriate actions) still causing him to smile in spite of himself. He knew of his own appetite for the fairer sex and how often they ran through his mind. And he didn't want Lily getting caught up with someone like him. She was too... well, she was his little sister. He didn't want her to get hurt.

It frustrated him. However, he knew there really wasn't too much he could do about it unless whoever it was that was kissing on his baby sister decided to be honorable and meet up with him. So he simply pushed those serious thoughts to the back of his mind to focus on more pleasant ones as he moved outside, craving the crisp air to help calm himself.

As an extra precaution, James tightened the scarf (another of his grandmother's gifts) closer, not wanting to get any sicker than he was at the moment -- he and Emily, after being removed, escaped to the Landing to proceed with rather dirty actions. Outside. In October. And were, therefore, both suffering from slight colds. The memory caused that smile that had generally accompanied it to form itself into more of a smirk as he moved leisurely towards the lake, his hands finding their way into his pockets as he noted idly that he wasn't sore any longer.

Frank had been quite preoccupied in the last week. On top of his normal classes and school work that he was busy with that year, he had had the Halloween ball, and then the first match of the game. Every day had ended with him falling asleep at a table in the common room, on his opened parchment and books, after spending the day exhausted from lack of sleep the previous night. Long days, with class work and practice, over and over again. And all for nothing.

Halloween had been fun, hanging around with Darcy and dancing and the rest of their friends. He hadn't even thought about Carmen the entire night--except for those few times he saw her, in that wonderful costume--but other than that, he was able to relax and have a good time.

And it had even ended fairly well, with a night time walk with Darcy, which had led him to walk by The Landing, and after hearing some noises, had gone to explore..and found one of his best friends tangled up--and naked--with a beautiful Hufflepuff blonde. That best friend that he just saw, now, sitting by the lake--and it reminded him that he hadn't given him a tough time about it yet. James hadn't seen that Frank saw them that evening.

Mind you, he had been quite preoccupied since then. Practice, practice, practice...game, pain of losing and getting hit by a Quaffle. He didn't want to talk to anyone since then, except seeing how Fred was doing in the Hospital Wing. For now, after ducking comments directed at him by Miklos Krum and the rest of the Slytherin's--and a few others--he was doing alright.

"Well look who it is.." he said as he came up along side James, dropping his bag and sitting down.

Though the muscles in his legs that had been slightly strained during his lovely interlude with Miss Creevey had stopped protesting as he walked, James still winced just a little as they reminded him of their displeasure at being pulled so as he sat down, leaning back against a tree. Amusingly enough, it only made him more eager to repeat the experience as soon as possible. Unfortunately, a mix of school and the injuries from the Quidditch match had the student body all confused and busy, so he'd yet to really see her since.

He heard the footsteps before Frank spoke, but didn't really acknowledge them until he sat down beside him. Smiling, he looked to him, his eyebrow raised, and nodded in greeting. "All healed up, I take it," he commented, but said nothing more about the match. No need to get Frank in a bad mood, after all. As for himself, he definitely hated losing. And hated even more that so many members of his family and friends had gotten injured losing. However, he wasn't really all that invested in the sport, so it hadn't really devestated him all that much.

"How are things?" he added conversationally. It had been a few days since they'd had a chance to talk. He knew that he really ought to have kept an eye out during the ball for Frank, especially given the fact that Carmen would be in attendance. Unfortunately, he really hadn't thought about it at the time, as Emily captivated him too much. Given the lack of a truly foul mood, though, he was able to assume that it hadn't been too much of a problem. Good. Frank deserved better anyway.

Frank scowled as he sat down, at James' question. "Yeah. Don't want to talk about it." And that was basically it, really. He trusted his friend wouldn't keep bringing it up. He was just so mad at himself for losing the game. It was his last year, he was captain. His teammates and housemates looked to him to lead them to victory. How could he have let them down?

But he pushed that thought away from him then. He had spent too many days since Saturday wondering about that. Now he could relax, until class of course, and tease his buddy. Grinning, he turned his head towards him. "Decent I guess. How about you?" His sly grin turned mischevieous then. "Tired at all? Worn out? I take it took long to recover from Wednesday?"

"No intentions of it," James commented, nodding. He definitely knew that Frank was beating himself up over the loss, though it was silly to do so, and knew it would do no good for him to bother trying to convince him that it wasn't the end of the world. Losses happened. Granted, a loss to Slytherin was even more harsh than one to anyone else. It just gave everyone more ammunition to kill them the next time.

He, of course, knew better than to outwardly congratulate his few Slytherin friends, though. No need to start a fire, after all. Even though Elena had played an excellent game. He'd just have to congratulate her at a more acceptable time than now.

He shrugged at the question. "Quite alright. Getting over a cold," he commented, curiosity flaring a bit at the mischievous look in Frank's expression. His eyebrows rose at the questions, a little confused. "Not as long as expected. I'm not particularly a dancer, though, so I was a bit so from that. You?" After all, no need to kiss and tell.

Frank nodded, just staring out towards the lake. He was glad he had friends like James and Fred. Fred didn't want to talk about it as much as Frank did, of course, but James understood.

He just had to step up his game next time.

"Cold, really?" He tried to calm his smile down, but he just couldn't. "What a shame." He almost snorted. "It could be from..what. Being outside during October..naked?" He burst out laughing then. "Although...you should have worked up a sweat..doing what you were doing.." He continued to laugh, nearly falling over.

James blinked a bit as Frank spoke, caught a bit off-guard. At one point, he opened his mouth to speak before closing it once more, his thoughts rushing a bit as he tried to figure out just what Frank knew, how he knew it, and whether or not it was worth it trying to convince him that he didn't know what he thought he knew. Then he decided to simply give in and shook his head, amusement and deviousness in his own expression.

"Riiight... about that..." he responded, laughing a bit himself. "Although it is a bit disconcerting that you saw me naked, Frankie... I trust what time you spent looking was more at Em than me." It was an odd conversation, and though he didn't really care all that much that he'd been caught, he didn't really know how Emily would react. "If I'd known we had an audience, I'd have put on more of a show."

Trust James to make an awkward situation even worse. But hey, it was Frank. They both were smashingly good at being ridiculous.

Frank was just cracking up. Of course James wasn't going to deny it. There was no way he would have been able to, anyway. He had gotten a nice look at who it was, and just what--and who--he was doing. And it didn't help the case that he had heard Emily practically purr his name.

"Yeah, it wasn't exactly what I had expected to see while I was walking around here with Darcy. I couldn't help but come and explore when I heard noises coming from The Landing." He kept his voice down just so his friend could hear, but he was still laughing pretty hard. "I ran away, though, once I saw it was you. One, I didn't want to see more of your arse than I already had seen. And two, I didn't want to disturb you. You two looked like you were having a good time."

Laughing still, he sank back into the grass, laying on his back. "I just thought it was bloody funny..not that I can blame you. Emily Creevey is fuckin' gorgeous."

Well, that certainly must have been one of the first times she'd purred his name. After the first few, James could hardly contain himself and, needless to say, things had gotten quite a bit more heated. James was just glad that Frank apparently hadn't witnessed the latter parts of the night, the parts that had him practically hoarse from yelling her name as she proved just how brilliant a lover she could be.

"You would investigate noises like that, you perve," he commented, rolling his eyes. Then he smirked. "Oh, you know you loved the sight of my arse. Don't even pretend. And we most certainly were having a good time. In fact, 'good' is just about the understatement of the century. Thanks for not disturbing, though. I likely would've killed you, if I'd gotten to you first. Which you would've probably prayed for, given that I doubt Emily would show any mercy."

He nodded, agreeing wholeheartedly. "Inarguably the best sex of my life thus far. No kidding," he commented. "And what of you and Darcy? I doubt you were just 'walking around' with someone as gorgeous as her."

Frank thankfully had missed quite a bit of that evening. And he'd imagine a really long evening it was, since James had come in clearly after the rest of them did--and he hadn't even been at the dance until he end. And he looked quite satisfied that night and the next morning, too.

He shrugged, a sly grin on his face. "What? I'm a naturally curious kid. You're lucky Darcy stayed behind." She had gladly stayed behind, she didn't want to see any of her classmates naked. "Oh no problem," he said, holding his hand up, "I could never disturb one of my mates while he was having a little fun with a female." He snorted. "Oh, you're flattering yourself quite a bit, aren't you. She enjoyed herself that much?"

Opening his eyes, he looked over at James. "Best sex? Seriously." He laughed again, shaking his head. "I don't doubt it. Make sure her brother doesn't find out. I know what it's like being the twin brother of a sexually active young woman." Being the brother of Alice Longbottom he had gotten a lot of stress from worrying about her and other guys. "Dylan Creevey will kill you." Most likely he wouldn't, because it was Dylan, but still.

At the mention of Darcy and anything he would have done, he rolled his eyes and closed them. "We didn't do anything," he said. It was to be left unsaid that he didn't feel comfortable doing anything with other girls since...Carmen.

He shook his head, sighing. "I'm assuming that particular part of your curiosity isn't something your parents would be terribly proud of, all things considered," he responded, then raised an eyebrow. "Or am I... maybe her staying behind had her miss out on seeing me in action and wanting a piece of James Potter for herself." He was kidding, of course, but it was a James-style comment through and through.

"Much appreciated to, might I add. I'd have definitely been obligated to return the favor had you interrupted, and you know how creative I can be," he responded, then shrugged. "It isn't so much flattery as it is honesty. And I think it's pretty safe to say she enjoyed herself about as much as she possibly could've, given the sounds she was making."

He nodded at the question, for it was the truth! Emily had been beyond fantastic, and that was only the first encounter. He couldn't wait for the next, his aforementioned creativity coming up with all sorts of ideas. At the mention of Dylan, though, he shuddered a bit. After all, he knew his reaction after finding out about Lily, and that was just kissing. "I'll just have to make sure he never finds out."

James sighed a bit at Frank's response, the unspoken mess that was the whole Carmen situation lingering once more. That whole thing was a part (albeit, a small one) of the reason why James chose not to actually do the relationship stuff. Too messy.

"It happens," Frank shrugged, "but my parents don't know that. I'm a good liar." His parents didn't know everything that he did, but they weren't always happy with things he did. Making a face, he rolled his eyes again at James' last comment. "Yeah, I'm sure. Or running in disgust, right into my arms."

He grinned again. "No problem. I know how it is." He left out the comment that he hadn't had that much fun with a girl in a while. Since Carmen, actually, but he normally didn't talk about her like that. Or girls, really. He was too shy. "Well aren't you lucky."

He didn't exactly need details. He figured it was a good time. "Yeah, you better hope he doesn't." They had all gone to school with the Creevey twins for seven years now, everyone knew their fights. They were funny kids, really, the Creevey's, but when they fought..it was a big deal. Frank saw it a lot, especially since Alice was friends with Emily. Dylan didn't seem like a fan of Emily's promiscuity. Frank didn't really mind.

Frank just lay in the grass. He was glad he didn't have to talk about it. It had been quite a messy situation, and it had ended unexpectedly, sadly, and he still hadn't gotten over it. And recently, over the journals, she had chosen to speak to him again, and it all came flooding back to him. It was weird how she had that effect on him.

"I certainly hear that," he responded. As far as lying to parents went, James was among the best. After all, with such a reputation as his and a bunch of the parents of his peers still wanting to do what they could to please his father, even telling on his son if possible, he had to have some sort of solid defense. He'd gotten skillfully out of quite a few discussions with his father concerning his sexual habits. Thankfully, none of it had been mentioned to his mother over the years. She was more the 'kill now, ask questions later' type. And death would definitely put a damper on things.

He snorted, shaking his head. "You're kidding, right? She probably would've begged to join, if anything. I'm irresistible, remember?"

He smirked in response, nodding. "Quite lucky." He never had been able to understand why Frank was shy around women. As far as he could tell, he didn't really have a reason to be. But he knew a lot of it had to do with (again) the infamous Carmen situation.

He needed to get over it, James knew, but he didn't have a clue how to help him accomplish that.

Frank snorted a laugh. He could just imagine what lies James Potter came up with to his parents. It wasn't like they were particularly tough parents, they just didn't take much...shit, for lack of a better term. Frank had known Harry and Ginny potter since he was born; his father had been one of their best friends. He had grown up with James, and seen the way he was diciplined. He could just imagine that Ginny wouldn't be too happy with James' choice of lifestyle while he was at school.

"Nope, not kidding," he replied, "I'm pretty sure she would have ran in fear." Maybe not. Frank knew how girls felt about James Potter, and Darcy probably was a bit bored with Frank. He hoped that he was at least a bit entertaining at the ball.

Frank nodded. He should be running around the school catching girls like James did, especially since he was single after nearly two years. And it was his last year. He was Quidditch captain, he was a nice guy, not so bad looking.. Why couldn't he just get over his ex girlfriend. "She talked to me the other day, you know." He didn't have to say who it was. The tone of voice was always specified just for Carmen.

Oh, Harry and Ginny were far from strict, that was certain. Harry's childhood had been so terrible as far as a family-life was concerned, he was adamant on letting his children have the most perfect childhood possible. Even if that meant letting them get away with far more than he should have. And Ginny was generally happy to oblige his father in that regard, only stepping in now and then when it seemed necessary. She was definitely more of a disciplinarian, to be certain. But they were both fabulous parents, so James never really complained when he actually did get in trouble.

He shrugged. "I suppose anything is possible," he responded. "Doubtful, but possible." Honestly, Frank didn't give himself nearly enough credit. James was more than comfortable enough in his sexuality to be able to clearly say that Frank had a lot going for him and a lot to offer a girl.

James had some idea of how difficult a time Frank was having, though. After that relationship in his fifth year (with the girl he referred to as She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named in order to make the situation more amusing than painful), he'd finalized his decision to simply stay single for as long as possible. The difference was in the way they'd handled the break ups. Unlike Frank, James had immediately gone back out into the dating world. Frank's comment pulled him from his thoughts and he looked at him curiously. "Really? What about?"

Neville wasn't exactly a strict father; he hadn't grown up with parents, much like Harry, and his Grandmother had been far too hard on him, so he had always treated the kids in ways that any child would dream of from a father. He was laid back, and was a bit too quiet to be really strict. But Hannah was also quite fun loving; that was probably why Alice and Frank got a way with a lot growing up. He never complained.

Frank just laughed, shaking his head. "Yeah.." he trailed off, just thinking about things. How lucky James was, maybe. He never got attatched. He got to date--and most of the time, shag--the prettiest girls in school. And they still remained friends, most of the time. He didn't have to worry about breaking it off and being upset and still having feelings for someone.

Glancing at him, he looked away as they talked about Carmen. "Yeah, she commented on my journal, asking how I was doing." He shook his head, laughing at himself as he remembered his reaction. "I'm such a bumbling idiot. I just answered her in like...three words."

James, though he certainly had no qualms with admitting his sexual appeal and good lucks whenever possible, honestly didn't know quite how he'd managed to be such a bachelor with such ease. It probably had a lot to do with the fact that he was about as far from an arrogant jerk as possible, his friendly and compassionate nature making it quite simple for him to stay friends with the girls he dated. He occasionally wished he could find the right fit, though, for he knew he did eventually want to settle down and have a family. But it was the time in his life when he was supposed to have fun, so he might as well fulfill that to the best of his abilities.
After all, he was graduating before too long and wouldn't see a lot of these people again, so why worry with a relationship? He wanted to travel immediately after he left the school, not marry some girl who'd force him to become a provider and father.

Looking back to Frank, he sighed and shook his head at him. "Well, was it an appropriate three words? If its going to be a short response, it had better at least have been good," he commented.
