Who: Shane and OPEN!
What: Shane is attempting to study but gets interupted and possibly talks about the Ball.
When: Monday evening
Where: Library
Why: Cuz he's been anti-social
Rating: PG
Status: In progress and OPEN!

For the first time in a while, Shane sat down at a table in the very back of the library and cracked open his potions book. They had an upcoming exam soon and he was well above unprepared. His blue eyes scanned the pages, but not a single word sunk into his brain. He was too busy thinking about the ball. Who would he ask? Could he ask someone? He could imagine it now. He would be standing in front of Sam or Rosalie or Carmen...just gapping...making a fool of himself. He had already decided Carmen was out of his league. She would never fall for a guy like him, mainly because he would never give her a chance to. Tristan is going with Mandy...Braden is going with Zara...for once he didn't feel like standing on the side lines...he wanted to be in the middle of it all.

Rosalie stepped into the library. A bit of light reading wouldn't hurt anyone. She scaled the shelves, looking for something that might spark her interest. Instead she found Shane Capper at a table, staring down at his potions book, but everything that he seemed to be reading looked like it was going through one ear, and right out the other. She looked at him with curiousity and he seemed to have a lot on his mind. She stepped away from the shelf, and went over to the table and sat next to him, rather across.

"Hi, Shane." She said in a quiet voice.

Shanes head rose from the stiff pages of his potions book. He had hardly opened it all year. It was still brand new. His blue eyes grew wide as they met the face of dear Rosalie. He cleared his throat before greeting her.

"H-hey," he stuttered. He pushed the brown hair out of his face and sat up a little straighter. "You studying too?" He asked, eyes searching around the room. He could always ask Rosalie to the Ball. As soon as the idea entered his head, he jumped back from it, shaking the table a bit. "Sorry," he apologized in a deep, melodic voice.

"No, not studying. Just looking for a good book." Rosalie nodded, "I'm sick of studying, they are driving me nuts with digging the word NEWTs into my brain." She bit her lower lip. "They are stressing me out. A good book would do me some good." She wrinkled her nose and smiled.

The table shook a bit, and it startled her. She jumped back, and smiled, at his apology. "It's okay, but..what was that about?" Rosalie asked, curiousity in her voice.

"You are here to read?" He asked, suprised. "I can see that I guess...you look like a reader," he stated. Then the words dug into his brain. "Uh...I mean...not that you look like a nerd or anything...just that...you are so smart...reading is good," he stammered. Shane rubbed his forehead and closed his eyes.

"I can relate completely," he agreed sympathetically. He had talked more in one minute than he had all week. Now he scratched his head. He had startled her too. "It's all...hard to explain. Just random stupid stuff going on inside my head," he told her. For once, he was comfortable.

"Yes." Rosalie giggled softly as he tried to save himself. She didn't mind his comment, she loved to read, and it wasn't a crime. "It's okay, I love reading, it's my favorite pasttime." Rosie smiled and looked down at her hands.

"So? Why are you studying? Aren't you like the best potions brewer in the 7th year or something?" She asked him, looking down at his book the back to him. Yes, he did startled her. "Random stupid stuff. I know what you mean...I've been thinking, a lot too."

"Reading always seemed boreing to me," Shane told her. "I learn things better by doing...not by reading how to do it." He listened to the words echo in his ears and tried his hardest not to laugh. He bit his lip. It was not often a grin formed across Shane Cappers face, but when one did catch sight of it, it was marvelous. Shane was not a dull emotionless person, he simply spoke through his eyes. He often smiled, but only truely grinned and laughed with those he was most comfortable with...his buddies.

Shane laughed at her statement. A rich chuckle. "Yeah, I wish," He stated. "You've seen me in Potions...the only place I am graceful at is on the Quidditch field." Shane leaned forward, placing his elbows on the table and holding one hand in the other over the book. "Thinking is not good, we should stop completely," he said with a smirk. She brought something amazing out in him.

"But it's not. Fiction is a place where you can escape the world around you. You can absorb into the surroundings in the book, you don't have to pay attention to the world outside of you." She put on a confused grin. "If that makes sense." Rosalie blushed, and looked back at her hands. She saw his grin, and grinned herself. It was one of the first times she had ever seen him grin.

"Just because you're clumsy doesn't mean you're not good at potions. Now I'm bad at potions." She smiled, thinking about her last potions assignment, recalling the explosion. "I know. I've watched you play. Especially when you play us. You look like you're alive when you play." She smiled, "Dante tries to get me to hit you with a bludger, but I'm not that mean. That's something he would do." She laughed silently to herself.

An idea popped in her head. "Oh!" She stood, taking his hand, a electric shock ran through her body but she brushed it off. "How about we find you a good book to read. It'd be good for you to escape your thoughts." Rosie lead him through the shelves to the wizard fiction. She began searching for one he would like, but she couldn't help but feel his eyes on her.

Shane watched her mouth move while she talked. He could tell she was passionate about reading and it made him smile again. "Escaping from the world...it's not always the amswer, you know. You have to face it sometimes..." He stated thoughtfully. His eyes wondered across the room, like htey often did when he was in thought. Shane wasn't good at expressing his feelings, so most of the time when they would get to deep he would run. No literally, he would get up and take a nice sprint. He hadn't done that in a while and was in desprite need of one. It would clear his cluttered mind.

He grinned again when she talked about the explosion. He did not comment, but waited until she was done with every word. His eyebrows raised when she mentioned that she had watched him play. He would never be able to play again without thinking that her beautiful eyes were on him. It made him uneasy. He shifted in his chair. "Well, I hope I always look like I'm alive," he stated jokingly. He knew exactly what she meant. Shane was a different person when he was playing. He liked that person much better. "Dante is a good man," he stated with a nod. "I'll have to mention this to him later. Don't...hold back...because of me...play up to your potental," He said in a cool voice. "I'll probably regret saying that later when I get plummered by a bludger," he laughed. It was a beautiful sound even to his own ears.

He jumped when she grabbed his hand. He stood when she did, but was frozen until she tugged him towards the shelves. Her hand was warm and when she released it and began searching the shelves, he maintained his blue eyes on her. Shane doubted that she would be able to find one that he would enjoy, unless it had to do with Quidditch. He leaned against the book shelf and stood beside her, watching her eyes wonder. He was amused.

Now he knew what Tristan was talking about before. The pounding in his chest. Instinctivly his face grew closer to hers. His breathing became deep.

"Yeah. You do, but it's good to escape every once and awhile." Rosalie smiled. Talking to him came easy for her. And it wasn't natural for her to even get somewhat close to anyone but Tyler. She smiled once again. Getting lost in her thoughts was something she always did. Rosalie looked back at Shane.

At the shelves, she looked at all the spines of the books before her. She could feel Shane's stares, and it was making her blush. She bit her lower lip and pulled a book off the shelf. It was titled Quidditch Love "Oh! This is a fabulous book." She nodded, handing it to Shane. "It's about a man who's in love with the game of quidditch, but then falls for the beautiful Veelan girl." She paused, "It's kind of sappy, I guess you could say I'm a hopeless romantic." She smiled, shyly. "I could find you something else." She looked at Shane, and his face was inching closer to hers, her breathing increased, as she looked at him. She was nervous, what was he doing. Her eyes grew a bit wide as she watched him.

He snorted when she pulled out a book called "Quidditch Love" He didn't mean to snort, he didn't mean anything by it...it was just simply a reaction. Quickly after realizing his actions, he cleared his face from all emotion. He took the book from her before she could put it back on the shelf. "I trust you," he said. It was like he was reliving a conversation with Sam. She had been trying to get him to read Jane Austin forever.

"You know," he whispered still close to her. "I never understood the saying 'hopeless romantic.' Does it mean a person only reads romantic books and are hopeless from enjoying anyother kind...or is it that they are hopeless for holding thier guard up when it comes to romance?" He asked. The second one made more sense. "This will do," he stated rubbing the spine of the book. It was rather old, which was a good sign...it must have been a good book.

He starred into her wide eyes of innocence. He wondered if she had ever been kissed before. She must have, she was too pretty to have never been kissed. Suprisingly, Shane had his first kiss when he was seven. There was a muggle girl who lived three streets down from Shane and Tristan. She wore her blonde hair in perfect curls and had dark brown eyes. They were playing a game of hide and seek and when he foudn her, she kissed him under the huge oak tree behind his house. Only Tristan and Braden knew of such events. Why did he have the urge to kiss her. His hands shook, so he gripped the book tighter. His knees buckled and he tried to make it as non-noticable as possible. They starred at eachother for several silent moments.

She looked at him when he snorted, of course she did expect this he was a guy. And guys snort at romantic stories. "Shane, I can find you a different book if you want." She smiled, reaching for the book he had, her fingers brushed his, and she shocked him. She quickly pulled away. "Sorry." She blushed.

Her breathing increased rapidly. Why was he looking at her like that? What was he planning? Rosalie was confused, she had never felt this feeling before, and right now it was making her nervous. Her eyes were locked into his, and for some reason she just couldn't look away.

Shane inched closer to her still. Their eyes were locked together. He wanted to know what she was thinking, but even if he did know it wouldn't help him any becuase he didn't even know what he was thinking. "I...I might kiss you," he whispered in a deep voice.

This was so unlike him, he would never do something so drastic. He would never make the first move. But she had some sort of power of him. He hadn't felt anything for a long time. He had suffered some heart breaks before and it had been a while since he had opened up and now he was about to kiss her, the girl he had been good friends with since his first year at Hogwarts. Oh the confusion.

His words stopped her heart. She was terribly confused, and she had so many butterflies flying in her stomach. Wide-eyed she stared up at him. Terrified, she slowly whispered, "I might be bad at it."

Why was he doing this?! How did he have this affect on her? What happened within these last few seconds that these feelings multiplied within her. She was freaking out. No guy looked at her the way Shane was now. No guy, and she loved but hated every minute of it.

"That would be impossible," he whispered back at her. He thought Rosalie was perfect at everything. How could she be so self conscience and so beautiful at the same time.

Then he pressed his lips against hers. He brought his hand up to her cheek and massaged his lips against hers. His hear pouned in his chest. This was something he would never have done before. In the library, too.

Still wide-eyed she watched as his face came closer and closer to hers. For a moment Rosie stopped breathing. His words soothed her soul making her seem to be free.

His lips met hers and her eyes closed, and she kissed him back. Rosalie's hands rose to his neck and the flutter in her stomach grew faster with each second. Right now she was in heaven.

His heart pounded in his chest. Why was this happening? He loved it and hated the confusion. Mixed feeling surrounded him. The kiss got deeper and deeper and then he pulled away. He starred down at her breathlessly. "I...I got to go..." he stated, walking backwards.

The kiss got deeper, and she pulled him closer. It was amazing, pure bliss. Rosalie loved every minute of this. But Shane pulled away. She stared up at him, confused, and breathless. With his words, she let go of him, and stared at her feet. "O-okay." She said, and also backed away. She didn't want to make this more confusing than it already was.

He saw the sadness in her face and it made him feel terrible. But he could not continue kissing her. He was torn. Half of him wanted to continue kissing her, the other half thought of Samantha. He whispered, "I'm sorry...I just...bye..." He turned around and walked away pushing back his brown hair.
