Who: Elena and Jacob Where: Jacob's house When: Sunday evening What: The end of a long day Rating: TBD
It was still strange to Elena that she had no home to go to. With the incident at Scorpius and Avalon's wedding, her parents had kicked her out of the house, and there was certainly no reason for her to ever go back there. She didn't miss going home, per se, but it was hard sometimes, knowing that the people who had given birth to you were no longer interested in your life, the life they created. Going to Jacob's house reminded her of just how off her family life had always been. They had their problems, certainly. Hell, for a while, their family had all but fallen apart, and yet they still loved each other, and it was so obvious in the way they acted together that she couldn't help but feel a small twang of jealousy that she would never dare to express.
They were good people, people who had taken her in when she'd had nowhere to go last summer. Oliver Wood had raised Jacob, too, made him that man he was today, and for that, she adored him entirely. Spending time in their household was never unpleasant- save perhaps the irritated looks Piper occasionall shot her- and she always felt comfortable and welcome.
After a train ride, dinner, and what she supposed was family bonding, Elena had slipped into shorts and a tank top for bed and was staring up at the ceiling of Jacob's room on top of his sheets. "Does it make me ridiculous if I'm worried about how Ben's doing?" she asked. The only time she had been away from Ben for a long stretch of time had been last summer, and that had been a stretch of hell for Ben at home, admittedly most of which he had brought upon himself in his own ridiculous ways. She didn't like the idea of things going badly for him again and her not being there.
